Being a thrifty mum means that I try and ensure that our income goes as far as it can and make the most of the little that we have.
This is becoming even more important in the current economic climate and I have to be careful to ensure that we do have money left over at the end of the month. I also try to ensure that we can have a little treat every now and then too.

One of the ways that I do this is to use our Tesco clubcard points on Clubcard Deals Deals rather than just using them as money off our shopping.
We collect points on any shopping we do in Tesco, in addition to point on any fuel we get at Tesco fuel stations and also when I shop online with Tesco Direct. We also get extra (green) clubcard points when we use our own bags at the checkout, which is a great incentive for remembering to take them when I go shopping. You can even get extra points for not opting for bags when you get your supermarket shop delivered.
I have a small clubcard which is on my keyring, so I am never without it when I am shopping, however, if I do forget it then I make sure to keep my receipt and get the [points added on at the customer service desk the next time I am in store (this has to be done within two weeks).
For every 150 points we collect, Tesco exchange it for £1.50 worth of clubcard vouchers. Every quarter we get a statement with our vouchers in and extra coupons which we can use instore or online.
We save our points up over the period of a year and use them to fund days out and meals over our summer holidays. By doing this I get up-to FOUR times the value of the voucher. So I exchange £5 worth of clubcard voucher for £20 of Pizza Express coupons. Both the boys love Pizza Express and it is a real treat for us to eat out and know that we are getting exceptionally great value.

We also use our vouchers for days out around the country. Last year we also went to LEGOLand Windsor using Tesco Deals. We exchanged £46 in vouchers instead of paying £154.80 at the gate, which was a saving of over £100. Without Tesco Clubcard deals we would not have been able to make the trip.
I also love the fact that you can narrow down your search on days out by using areas, so that when we were visiting Cornwall we could search to see any deals that were applicable for that holiday, making our spending money go further.

I didn’t know that, I should shop more with Tesco. We just don’t have one close to hand x
