Since having the boys and moving to primarily one income, I have discovered a new side to me. A side I didn’t think existed, but when the chips are down, I have shown I can rise to them and I have become a thrifty mum and a we are a frugal family.
I have learned to make our money go further and put a real focus on trying to obtain the best value for my family that I can. It doesn’t mean that I am cheap, but it does mean that I have become queen of looking online for voucher codes and ensuring I find any discount codes that might me out there. So for example if I was looking at a pair of trousers for the boys from New Look, then instead of buying them there and then I woould come home or go online and search for New Look discount code. It means that I have also learned not to shop on the spur of the moment and make sure that every purchase is thought about.
One of the biggest savings I have made is making sure that I meal plan and cook for my family from scratch and if you are looking for inspiration on frugal food, then please do visit mine and Cass from a Frugal Family‘s other site Frugaliscious Food. If you are looking for ideas for menu planning that Mrs M has a weekly link up.

Also on a Monthly basis either myself Becky (Baby Budgeting) and Cass (Frugal Family) hold the Thrifty Families Blog Carnival in association with My Family Club, who are our proud sponsor and a fantastic place to find time and money saving ideas. The March one will be held by me at A thrifty Mum, so if you have any suitable posts then please get them to me by March 10 for inclusion in the carnival on Tuesday 13.
