Getting older and wiser, reminiscing about Marks and Spencer

There was a time when I was a young gun career woman and the only time I ever stepped foot in Marks and Spencer was to buy ready meals and their crisps for MadDad.    I used to go shopping every lunchtime and browse the food section for our dinner that night.  What a way to live, in my defense I did work long hours and always claimed I couldn’t cook.

Fast forward eight years and here I am older, wiser and considerably poorer!  I now cook from scratch everyday and would love to spend an hour roaming M&S for clothes rather than food.  I yearn for clothes with St Micheal labels rather than M&S and have amazing memories of sitting with my mum and boys in the Marks and Spencer cafe feeding them both when they were small or enjoying a treat of a latte and babychino.

Funny how I always looked on Marks and Spencer as an old ladies shop and now I am that old lady and A Thrifty Mum at that.  I now never go shopping there with out searching out Marks and Spencer Voucher codes.  I also make sure that I pay for my spending with my M&S credit card and then pay it off in full at the end of the month so that I can get any points on it.

I also get the boys school uniform from Marks and Spencer each year.  I find their adjustable waist trousers the only ones that can survive Mini, he take the knees out of all the other ones we have tried.  I make sure I keep an eye out on their website and also for any Marks and Spencer discount codes around this time of year as it is when they get the uniform stock in and I try to buy it before the summer rush to ensure I get all the things the boys need.  The boys have always been in Marks and Spencer socks and underwear too.  I guess it is something that my mum has passed down to me and she used to always get mine there too.

It is really funny looking back on our long history with M&S, even MadDad said he would always buy his Gran something from their Magnolia toiletries for her birthday and Christmas as it was her favorite, along with a tin of their shortbread.

I also have to say that they have also really got it right with their tins for the Jubilee this year.  They have been a must buy item for most bloggers I know.
