My Amazing Spaces | Mum In The Madhouse

My Amazing Spaces

I love where we live and our home.  It really is a family home and I can not quite believe what started off as a stop gap eight years ago (we were going to build our own home) has become a house filled with love, laughter and memories. But I am going to admit that we have become stuck in a rut when it comes to decorating.  So when Dulux offered me three free Dulux Amazing Space consultations I jumped at it, but had not idea that we would love what they came up with and find myself convincing the husbeast to put some of the ideas in to practice.

Each Dulux Amazing Space consultant costs £75, which I was gifted free.  First off I needed to input some information on to the Dulux Amazing Space system.  I uploaded images of my rooms, their dimensions and also go though a selection of images saying what I liked and didn’t like about them.   That took me around 15 minutes for each of the rooms.  The next step was arranging a time for the 30 minute consultation with Dulux Design Expert, this was all done online and was pretty easy and I received email confirmation afterwards.

The actual consultation was great, it was all done online and we connected using the Dulux software.  I was really impressed with the technological aspect of the service, but totally blown away by the design aspect!

I had three consultants, one for Mini’s bedroom, one for the kitchen and the other for the sitting room.  I had two different consultants and was really impressed with how insightful the designs were.

I was amazed at how much the designer for our kitchen picked up on the colours I like.  I LOVE the pop of teal in the cubby in to our garage.  I also loved the idea of painting our kitchen units white mist, which is a very pale grey (I am trying to convince the husbeast on that one)!   I also like the idea of two vertical stripes on the back wall tying it all together.

In addition to the mock up above, they also provide you with a floor plan too.

The design experts also work to your provided budget and provide you with a personalised style guide linking to the products.

Moving on to our sitting room.  The designer took on board that this family area needs to have pretty neutral walls as we have a rather colourful rug that we are keeping.  I have to say that we all love the idea of painting around out stove.  We are not sure yet whether we are going to do it fill floor to ceiling or do just a square around it.  But this is going to happen when we next decorate the sitting room.  We are also going to be buying a number of the accessories for the room too!

Off all the rooms,I think that Mini’s was the biggest challenge.  He loves his room currently with it’s London theme and we were looking for something that would take his through his tween years.  As a mum I want a room that is easy to clean, but also shows his personality.

It was interesting to see that the Dulux designer agreed that we were utilising the space in the room most efficiently (I guess years of Facilities Management and space planning has paid off). Mini loved the fact that the designer suggested a thing burgundy horizontal line around the room and remounting his london wall decals above the line.  I loved the fact that the designer sourced loads of inexpensive storage for this room, which is what is needed!
