Plastic bowl Snow Globe Art for Kids

What child doesn’t love a snow globe?  My boys are obsessed with them and no matter where we go they shake them, which leaves me fearful of the dropping them as glass, water and my boys is not a great mixture.  Anyway a plastic bowl snow globe is super fun to make and there is no glass involved.

As you need to allow time for the glue to dry this project does take some time, but that is perfect for children with shorter attention spans as you can move on to something else whilst the glue dries.

Firstly we draw round the lip of our bowls or plates on the card and then cut it out.  We like to use dark card so that the snow stands out on it.  This time we used a deep blue.

Then the fun part, deciding what you want to pop in your snow globe.  As we were making festive ones we had Father Christmas and a reindeer stickers so used them, but you could put anything in, choose a landmark to draw and colour or even a photograph.

We also stick some snowflake sequins on to the card too.   Make sure that your glue is dry before moving on to the next step.

Once the glue is dry you can add your snow to move in your globe.  We used a mixture of white and silver glitter and iridescent snowflakes.  Make sure you make a small pile in the center of your card.

Next you need to add a lot of Blu Tack white glue to the rim of your plastic plate or bowl before sticking it to the card and allowing it to dry.

The boys then decided that it needed to look more like a snowglobe, so we cut a triangular base out of grey card and Maxi wrote “let it snow” on to it.

As we wanted to hang our globes we added some twine on the rear using glue dots.

This plastic bowl snow globe is fun to make with kids and contains no water or glass so is great in a classroom too

Your snowglobe doesn’t have to be festive themed.  I can see these being perfect with any scene in the rear or even a landmark.  In fact this is one craft we are going to return to in january.  Come back and see what we make.
