Looking after your feet in Florida

We are five days in to our once in a lifetime holiday in Florida and I wanted to share my initial observations and thoughts with you.

Firstly the flight was fine with the boys.  We stayed overnight in Manchester the night before, so we didn’t have to worry about travel hold ups.  This meant that the we started the holiday without stress and worry and on the right foot.

The one thing that you do need in Florida is comfortable shoes.   Even if you are on your feet all day in the UK, it is very different being on your feet and all the walking you will do in the Florida heat.

I brought my most conformable shoes and even so, my feet have swollen and become sore with all the walking we have done.

I have made sure that they have been elevated each night with a pillow under them.

Also be sure to bring good quality blister plasters and foot cream.  Even MadDad has developed a blister and he brought his old  reliable Ecco trainers, which he bought from Bells Shoes intending to buy new ones and leave them behind.

The boys have alternated between trainers and their sandals.  We have all made sure to wear sport socks to give extra padding.

We have walked and walked and walked some more! I wish I had remembered the pedometer so I could tell you in total how many steps we have walked each day.  It has been a LOT!

Our most used items up to date are:

  • Plasters
  • Suncream
  • Hats
  • rucksack
  • refillable water bottle
  • Walkie Talkies

There will be many more posts to follow!
