I love transitioning from Christmas decorations through to New Year ones.  We do not go overboard, but once I take down all the sparkles and lights of Christmas, I NEED to have some lights to counteract the dark winter days and early nights.  This is where these brilliant and oh so simple DIY wine bottle lights come into their own.

How to make DIY Wine Bottle Lights

First off you need to take the labels off your bottles. Soak them in water and then use a butter knife scrape off the label.  The sticky part will be left behind. so add a few drops of lemon oil (essential oil) then rub, this removes the sticky stuff like magic.  You may need to repeat another time if you still have residue but then run through dishwasher and the bottles are like brand new.

There are so many different ways to decorate your bottles, but we decided on going for a simple number for the New Year.  One number per bottle.

I cut out my letters on my Cricut Explore Air and went for 2.5 inches wide and 4 inches deep for each character.

Alternatively, print off your letters using a word processing program and cut them out on your chosen paper.  We decided to go super shiny!

Then stick your numbers your bottles using PVA glue and allow to dry.

We decided to jazz our bottles up a little more and added glitter washi tape over the metal at the necks.
