Ultimate family packing list for festivals

We love festivals and used to regularly go to them BC (before children) and then started visiting them again last year with the kids.  I love that my boys are a little older at 11 and 12 and can now stay up and really enjoy the whole festival vibe.  However, it is a little (make that a lot) different to just going to a festival on your own and you certainly need to pack more!  Make sure that you have a fab time at festivals with this comprehensive festival packing checklist

We are off to Nozstock in a couple of weeks and I have already started the packing list, as it pays to be prepared.  First off let’s talk about the dreaded trolley, you either love them or hate them and I am firmly in the trolleys are great for getting from the car to the camping field, but should not be allowed anywhere near a stage.  Last year at Camp Bestival I had bruises on my ankles from tripping over blooming trolleys in the dark. In fact, it is the main reason we are not going back to Camp Bestival this year. Yes, it is great to keep your sleeping child in, but, no just no – leave the kids at home if they need a trolley! Yes I know that is controversial, but it is just my opinion.

Now just a few weeks away, Nozstock Festival is very proud to announce its final round of artists and also to introduce this summer’s Little Wonderland for kids and families of all ages.

Ella Nosworthy, one of the festival founders, explains: “We are getting very excited now as the festival is getting closer and are really happy to reveal the final round of artists, and also what all the families and children can enjoy at Little Wonderland. It’s incredible to reach our 19th year and we are going to make it our biggest and best yet!”

We are really looking forward to seeing some of the eclectic and interesting line up: They Say Jump, Professor Elemental, Westerman, Cousin Kula, Noble Jacks, Chloe Foy, King Solomon Band, Harwicke Circus and more join Seasick Steve, Happy Mondays, The Sugarhill Gang, Hayseed Dixie, General Levy, Ocean Wisdom, Levelz, Mungo’s Hi-Fi, Goldie Lookin, Chain, and DJs including Hazard & Eksman, Delta Heavy, Krafty Kuts & Dynamite MC, Loadstar, Mind Vortex, Frankee and many, many more.

I am also keen to see The Hidden Valley’s Little Wonderland Kid’s Area as the festival embraces a whole family festival experience from beginning to end, : making it perfect for both parents and little ones alike.  Plus as all the events and activities are free of charge in the Little Wonderland Kid’s Area across the whole weekend I do not have to worry about forking out extra cash. There’s even a bottle warming service!   Nozstock’s Little Wonderland Kid’s Area this summer includ Spare Room Arts; Glittery, gluey art boxes; Let’s Go Fly A Kite; Surreal Frames; Marvellous Masks; Wacky sunglasses; Fantastic flip flops; Festival Fashions; Bandhani Tie Dye T Shirts; That’s not a pot! Or is it?; See the world upside down; Freedom of expression table; The Theatre of Endless Possibilities!; Surreal Sculptural Headdresses; face painting; temporary tattoo workshop; Adults & Kiddie Yoga & Meditation; interactive story telling; and Chill Out Corner.

So here is our ultimate family packing list for festivals.

Now obviously this will change depending on how old your kids are and how much you fancy walking to and from the car!  We tend to pack light and double up with some stuff.  So often pack thermals instead of PJ’s.

I make sure that I always pack more wipes and loo roll than I think I need and lots of hand sanitiser.  We make sure we have some in each of the rucksacks.  We also make sure we have a couple of black sacks in the rucksack too, they can double up as rain ponchos, ground blankets and rubbish bags.

I am a big fan of small purses that I can attach to lanyards for the lads.  We often get hang a phone charger from them too.
