Welcome back to our A-Z of Ingredients cooking with kids series. This week we are at K is for Kiwi and we have made or that should be Mini has made some delicious fruit smoothies.
It is hard to believe that Alvin has been part of The Mad House for over two years now. It is hard to imagine our lives without him. He brings us much joy and completes us. We are a family of give. So much so that we actually look for holidays and breaks that we can take him along with us.
I have never made a piñata before, but when I saw the football piñata on Here comes the girls, I knew that I had to make one for Mini’s birthday party. However when a dear friend thought that I planned letting my boys lose on a piñata with a stick she panicked! However, it was never my intention to let them beat it with a stick, but to kick it like a real football.
I love reading and I am so pleased to have been able to pass that love of reading on to my boys. Mini has always been a ferocious reader, but Maxi was a reluctant reader up until the last year or so. One of the things to remember as a parent is that reading doesn’t always have to equal books and comics are a great way to encourage readers. So here are our current top comics for ten year old boys.
We live 5 minutes from the beach and growing up by the beach was a real highlight of my childhood. However, I married a man that hates the sand! One of my favorite ways to spend the summer is at the beach with the boys and these great beach hacks will make a day at the beach a dream.

It seems that so many people love adult pages and I am not alone in my love of them. I recently took a flight for business and rather than reading I sat colouring in for the journey, lost in my own little world. The flight attendants said they are seeing more and more people colouring on planes.
There is nothing better than receiving a kids made card and Father’s Day is no exception. I love getting creative with the MiniMads and coming up with ideas for this years card for MadDad. The boys love their father and there is something about watching the Husbeast with his boys that makes me go weak at the knees.
I understand that not everyone wants to do arts and crafts with the kids, but I believe that we all have a creative gene somewhere and that creativity is a muscle and the more we use it, the bigger it gets! We love cooking in The Mad House. I really enjoy teaching the boys new recipes and sharing with them recipes that have been passed down through the family. I want to make sure that I leave them with a legacy of lots of delicious family recipes. I was delighted when Newcastle Building Society set us a ‘Customise Your Life’ challenge of customising your cookbooks with your top 10 family recipes as it spurred me on.
I think that the significance of Father’s day and Mother’s Day only come to us once we are parents. I know that on Mother’s Day there is nothing better than getting a homemade card of little something from my boys. So with the help of the boys and Braun I have put together a free Father’s Day printable.
