It is hard to believe that this time 12 years ago we were waiting on the birth of Maxi and we researching what to buy for our first born child. Maxi was a much longed for child, who we never really believed would really come, so we left buying everything till last minute. We wanted to make sure that our perfect first born had the best of everything, so we made sure that we subscribed to Which? magazine.

Holidaying with mardy tweens can be a challenge especially when you have a husband that would rather pull teeth that sit and watch them in the swimming pool all the time. It is a really difficult age when they become selfish and do not see why they should be taken to museums and such and want to have “fun” on holiday, well at least mine do. So we didn’t set off with too high expectations for our 3-night break at Cameron Lodges on Loch Lomond. I was just hoping for a change of scenery and the possibility that the boys might stop bickering for a little while.
Top 9 reasons why your baby might cry and what to do: is a collaborative paid post. Arriving home from hospital with a new-born bundle of joy can be a daunting occasion, particularly when they start crying in a tone you don’t recognise. Care, the number one healthcare brand sold into UK pharmacy and Penny Lazell, a qualified midwife and independent health visitor are here with advice to help you comfort your little one.
When Barleycup challenged me and the boys to produce a recipe with their delicious gluten free and free from added sugars instant cereal drink I knew instantly that they would be the perfect addition to peanut butter and chocolate cookies. I first was introduced to peanut butter cookies by Cass from Diary of a Frugal Family and they are such a delicious cookie, but remarkably simple to make.
Earlier this year I worked with Highland Spring to bring you some tips on keeping your kids hydrated at school, easing the home to school transition and hel[ping kids cope at school. I have learned over the years that water and hydration plays a big part in my kids’ behaviour. Not only during school time, but also over the summer and how it helps them be #BraveByNature.
How gorgeous is this free Kokeshi colouring sampler from my friend the talented Tasha Goddard? As I get older I really do relish the chance to switch off and unwind and one of my favourite ways is to colour in. Over the last couple of weeks, I have taken my colouring sampler with me when I take the boys swimming and it has really been fun to do.
It is no secret that I find balancing screen time challenging. My boys would quite happily spend some days on their Xbox or screens all day. So this summer we are implementing some summer screen rules for my sanity! Now I realise that this might not be for everyone, in fact, one of my besties doesn’t feel the need to implement screen times rules in her home. As always you know what is best for your family and this is what I feel is best for mine.
Finding new and exciting things to do with your children can be challenging. However, there are unique ways to spend family time that are fun and educational. One way is to assist your children in developing an interest in the history of your family. This is something my boys are keen on doing after watching Who do You Think You Are?
Are you thinking about the children being back to school yet? Some people have been planning for this since the kids left school, others sit in denial about the holidays ever ending and other wishes h the holidays were much shorter or never happened at all!. Whichever person you are we have a post for you in our ultimate back to school resource. Whether it is your children first day of preschool or last year of senior school you will find some amazing tips and ideas to make the transition back to school simple for you and your children.
It is so hard to believe that this September Mini will be starting senior school and my years as a primary school parent are over. It is even harder to think that I have been navigating the first day of school since 2008 when Maxi started pre-school. So that is nine years of first days at school. Eight of them at Primary and one year of Seniors for Maxi.
I can not believe that as of September I will have two children in Senior school. For the boys that means a change in school shoes. Now they need to be more grown up and have laces. However, as much as the boys’ new school shoes need to look grown up they have to survive and be suitable for growing feet. So Ecco has sent us some of their back to school range to try out.
I am passionate about getting kids in the kitchen and getting them cooking, and anything that makes that easier and simpler is great by me. So when Salter asked us to take a look at their revolutionary Salter Cook range, which includes the Salter Cook 10kg Pro Bluetooth Kitchen Scale and the Salter Cook Bluetooth Cooking Thermometer that links to their cooking app, we decided to adapt one of the recipes we found on the app and make chocolate shortbread.
It seems that the summer has happened it you haven’t been to a festival and now the boys are older (11 and 12) we are back to really enjoying festivals as a family. We used to regularly go to festivals BC (before children) and never missed a Reading Festival for 13 years! Rather than do a big festival with the kids we have been loving going to smaller and independent ones. This year we have been looking forward to visiting Nozstock The Hidden Valley.
So, I am going to talk about pregnancy and I feel that I need to add a full disclosure here – I am not pregnant, can not get pregnant and will never be pregnant again in the future. However, I have been pregnant numerous times in the past and have two happy healthy boys. This post is a paid collaboration with nutimum Pregnancy bars #nutrimumadvert #Ad #Nutrimum.
Summer holidays, you either love them or hate them. I am never sure about which camp I am in. I love spending time with the children but do worry about the cost of summer activities. I relish not having to get up each morning and giving up the school routine, but I don’t like hearing the words “I’m Bored” That is why I came up with the bored jar (about four years ago).
