Popcorn Snowballs 2

These popcorn snowballs are a great twist on the classic movie snack of popcorn and we have added a winter twist to them.  They are super fun and really simple to make and we have added a wintery twist to them with our addition of white chocolate snow. Plus they only take four ingredients, so are a real win for us.

Halloween crafts for kids 1

These Halloween Crafts are perfect for getting into the seasonal spirit with kids of all ages. I really do not need any excuse to craft, but if you are looking for one it can not have escaped your attention that it is nearly Halloween.  For me it is a great reason to get making and baking with the boys and we start to decorate the Mad House with all our homemade decorations from early October!  If you are looking for inspiration, then I have this super roundup for you of our Halloween crafts for kids.  These are the Halloween things that we have made over the years, so there will be more »

Dealing with Eczema in the Winter 23

Both of my boys have eczema, different types and in different parts of their bodies, but it is something that breaks my heart. Baby’s are supposed to have smooth, delectable, heavenly soft skin and Maxi certainly didn’t and often doesn’t. He suffers the most out of the two boys and when he is having a flare up we have to wrap his body oin cling film to help the medication and to also help prevent him ripping his skin to shreds.

Over the years I have tried everything and anything on his skin and after six years are finally settling on a routine and products that work for us. Intially we were pushed down the oilatum and Diprobase route by our GP, but I have issues with SLS and SLA’s they make my skin red raw and the palms of my hands when using these products with him were red, sore and itchy. So we moved on to products with no parabens and no SLA’s in, which has made a vast difference.

Folk Flower Mason Jar Luminaries 17

Folk Flower Mason Jar Luminaries is a paid collaboration with Bostik.  I have a real love for Mid-century design and these folk flower mason jar lanterns have a real mid-century feel (well I think they do).  They were inspired by a writing set I have and are perfect for the time between Halloween and Christmas when it is dark and your home needs some light.

Ghosts in a Jar Halloween Craft 3

Ghosts in a Jar Halloween Craft is a paid collaborative post with Bostik.  Fancy catching some ghosts for your Halloween decoration, well we have you covered and these are really special ghost catching jars that stop them dematerialising. Yes, ghosts can go through walls, but these jars are magical and keep them captured and out of mischief!

How to make a Smallfoot Ornament 21

How to make a Smallfoot ornament is a paid collaborative post with Warner Brothers. Have you heard of Smallfoot yet? Well, be prepared for all things Smallfoot as it avalanched into UK cinemas on 12th October 2018.  It is an animated adventure for all ages, with original music and an all-star cast, Smallfoot, turns the Bigfoot legend upside down when a bright young Yeti finds something he thought didn’t exist—a human. We are all really excited to see it here in The Mad House, even Maxi as he is a big fan of James Cordon.

Dealing with Starting school 3

Dealing with Starting School is a paid collaboration with Bassetts Vitamins. Starting school and going back to school can be such a big thing for a child and for a parent.  I found both of my boys starting school one of the most stressful and worrying times in their lives so far. It was the first time that they were away from me for any length of time on a regular basis and I was really worried about them. How would they manage, would they eat school dinners, would they catch all the bugs that go round and how would they cope being without me!

Paper plate Autumn/Fall leaf wreaths 29

An autumn paper plate leaf wreath is the perfect fall activity or craft to make with your kids whatever their age.  Paper plates remain one of my favourite ways to make wreaths with kids due to their affordability, but also their flexibility.
