5 Magical Elf on the Shelf Alternatives to Countdown to Christmas

The Kindness Elves are one of my favourite alternatives or should that be an antidote to Elf on the Shelf? Created by Anna from The Imagination Tree they have grown from the concept to be actual elves and accessories that you can buy. The Elves will have a wonderful impact in your home by encouraging kids to carry out daily Acts of Kindness for their siblings, friends and neighbours. There is a fabulous book explaining the story of the elves and a wonderful accessories pack to use with them which will encourage children to be kind, thoughtful and generous through the holiday season. Instead of pulling pranks and getting into mischief, these elves suggest acts of kindness kids can do instead. It’s a tradition that feels a little more true to the celebration of the season

North Pole Ninjas (UK Link/US Link)

The North Pole Ninjas(UK Link/US Link) are special Ninja Elves that have secret missions from Santa.  These special elves are selected for their ability to help carry out top-secret missions that are all about helping, giving, caring, and listening.  They are looking for new recruits and you have been sent a sensei and this special book to help carry out those top-secret missions with a bit of stealth.

The Shepherd on The Search (UK Link/US Link)

I was introduced to this by one of my US followers and really love the concept. You will embark on a family journey and find Christ in Christmas!  During the Advent season you begin reading the story of your shepherd’s timeless journey in this beautifully illustrated interactive children’s book, and let the fun begin every day as you hide your shepherd and your children find him in a new place along the search!  It really is a fabulous way to countdown to Christmas. The shepherd’s journey begins anew every Christmas season and ends on Christmas day as your shepherd finds his way to the manger.  Make meaningful Christmas memories, as year after year your family delights in helping your cuddly shepherd retell the timeless story – that focuses on the true meaning of Christmas.

Hide and Hug Olaf (UK Link/US Link)

This is a really simple concept, so do not expect anything else.  It is all about finding Olaf and giving him a hug!

50 Acts of Kindness for Advent

I can not believe that it has been five years since we started using acts of kindness as part of our advent tradition and countdown to Christmas. I wanted to take some of the commercialism out of the build-up to Christmas and show my children the true meaning of Christmas.  I am a firm believer in kindness being really powerful and a brilliant way to share love at this special time. Over the years we have created many different sets of printables that are all free for you to download.
