20+ Simple Breakfasts with Canned Fruit

This post simple breakfasts with canned fruit is a paid collaboration with Princes. My house isn’t called The Mad House for no reason with two boys 14 months apart it has always been chaos here and I am most certainly not a morning person, however, I know the importance of breakfasts for all of the family.  So I was delighted to be working with Princes on their #mumsontherun campaign to share my family-friendly simple breakfasts made with their canned fruit.

Having one child that is a night owl and one that is a lark means that I am a perpetually exhausted pidgeon and trying to get the boys out of the door in time for the school bus is a challenge on a morning.  Mini has only been getting the bus since September and is finding it hard to get up in the morning, so I need breakfasts that are fast to prepare, can be made by myself or Maxi, filling and full of goodness.  This is where I reach in the cupboard for our cans of Princes Fruit.  Maxi has a particular love of mango and let me tell you tinned mango is much more convenient, is always ripe, has never turned in the fruit bowl before you get to it and it is also prepared.  A total win.

So I am going to share with you some simple Fruit breakfasts that can be made with tinned, fresh or even frozen fruit (I have all of them in my house).

Tropical Fruit Parfait

This is a snazzy version of Maxi’s staple which is granola, yoghurt and tinned mango!  It takes less than two minutes to make and is delicious.  I like to think that I am sat on a tropical island watching the turquoise waves hitting the sand when I eat this rather than cold dark Northern England.    And as a bonus canned fruit counts as one of your five a day!

Ingredients

  • Vanilla Yoghurt
  • Granola
  • can Mandarin Segments
  • can Mango Slices
  • dried fruit and nuts

Instructions

  1. Put 2 tablespoons of yoghurt in the bottom of each of the glasses. If you are doing this the night before then use a clean jam jar.
  2. Top with 4 orange slices. Sprinkle the oranges with 1 1/2 tablespoons of granola, followed by 2 more tablespoons of yoghurt. Top with sliced mango then with dried fruit and nuts.
  3. Pop the leftover fruit into a Tupperware in the fridge for the next day – as you can see Maxi got to the mango slices before I even made this.  Once the can is open in our house they never last!

Maxi is the porridge man in the house and this is a delicious addition to your normal porridge, plus as long as you add 80g of the peach it is one of your five a day.  Now if you are anything like me you buy fresh peaches and they are always either too hard and then the next time you check off, canned sliced peaches do not go off!

One of the things I try to do is make sure we always have Greek yogurt (for protein), honey, agave, maple syrup (for sweetness), frozen or canned berries (we love the mixed ones with blueberries, raspberries, strawberries and blackberries in) and chia seeds or flax seeds (for Fibre). It makes a simple but healthy breakfast.
