Heart Jar Luminaries – A simple kids valentines craft 11

How beautiful are these heart jar luminaries?  February is a dark month here in the UK, so anything that can add a little joy or light is a great thing in my book.  These heart jar luminaries are an inexpensive way to brighten up the month and a simple kids craft perfect for valentine’s day.   Plus they are a super way to use up any glass jars that you have.

Watercolour Indent Valentines Cards

Watercolour Indent Valentines Cards 11

We have been experimenting with watercolours since getting some new water brushes in our stockings at Christmas. I originally bought them with the intention of us taking our paints out and about with us, but quickly discovered that the kids LOVE them and they sparked lots of creative activities including these watercolour indent valentines cards.   I am a big fan of homemade cards and hope to pass that on to the children and always make the husband a card.

I do hope you are having a great valentines day…..

We are not huge Valentines celebrators here in the Mad House.  Especially as our wedding anniversary falls o0n March.  This year we are celebrating it even less as Maxi has a stomach bug!   However, some people are not like MadDad and me and feel that Chocolates. Flowers. Dinner = Valentine’s day. Not a sniffling ill other half! Make sure they’re aware of the importance of this day, thanks to Vicks. So which camp are you in, the Valentines lover or the Valentines hater?

Valentines Wreath 5

No how to on this post, as it was very straight forward, although I do wish I had been able to get red bells, instead of painting them and spraying them with matt clear sealer.

This wreath was inspired by a Christmas decoration I had seen at Salisbury’s and took a photo of. I used two thicknesses of florists wire, a think one to form the hear and then a thinner one to connect all the bells. The ribbon is red gingham from my stash. I have popped in on the front door, but instead of just hooking over the hanger, I have wrapped it round it. MadDad was concerned that it would jingle in the wind and bother us, but the only time it makes a noise is when the door is opened and closed.

When I take this one down I will be replacing it with an Easter one.

If you have made a wreath I would love to see it.

Spiritual Sunday – St Valentines Day

What are we celebrating today?, Who was valentine? Well wikipedia says He was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome. Helping Christians at this time was considered a crime. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner — until Valentinus tried to convert the Emperor — whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn’t finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate. MadDad and I have told the boys it is a day for recognising the people you love and for standing up for the […]

Roses – why wait for valentines day!!

I never used to like roses, but they have literally begun to grow on me.  I have been lucky enough to get a couple of bunches from Aldi over the last couple of weeks. My images don’t do them justice, these are a very pale lilac colour and have a parchment coloured tip.  There are two weeks old and a lovely now they are on the wain.   I got these with my shop this week, they are a pale cream with a peachy centre and they are just divine.    It is wonderful how a bunch of flowers can make a real difference to my mood.  I like these […]

More Makes, laptop pouches and valentines hearts

I have been wanting to show you a couple more of the things I have been doing with the mini’s this week, but it is so dark, photo’s are not the best. I don’t know about you, but it seems once Johnnie Boden gets a hold of your address, he sends you a million and one catalogues, STOP Johnnie, you must be single handed responsible for the decimation of the rain forest.  Plus the models are so smug with their little snippets of their lives.  I don’t want to know that Verity loves chocolate cake, especially when she looks about a size 2!  I can not bear to throw them in […]
