A Simple and speedy midweek meal – Cooking with kids

Wednesday nights are our kryptonite.  Both boys have to be at after school clubs and have other commitments, so dinner needs to be fast, filling and family friendly.   Plus I go food shopping on a Thursday, so by Wednesday, we tend to be eating from the freezer and when McCain challenged us to make a simple midweek meal with their frozen sweet potato fries I decided to hand it all over to the boys.

A fast, filling, healthy and family friendly meal which is perfect for cooking with kids and to have on the table within 15 minutes.

Both the boys love sweet potatoes, but we hadn’t seen McCain sweet potato fries before.  As they were going to be cooking and preparing the meal for us they chose frozen corn on the cob, pork loin steaks and sweet potato fries.

This really was a simple and speedy midweek meal as it was prepared and cooked in under 15 minutes.

Ingredients

  • Pack of McCain Sweet Potato fries
  • Pack of frozen mini sweetcorn
  • 4 Pork Loin Steaks

A fast, filling, healthy and family friendly meal which is perfect for cooking with kids and to have on the table within 15 minutes.

The boys are both pretty proficient in the kitchen, but for this meal they had to use three different methods of cooking.  They used our Tefal Inteligrill for perfectly cooked pork, our Phillips air fryer for beautifully crispy and fast sweet potato fries and then they cooked the corn in a boiling pan of water on the stove.

I love that both the boys had so much fun cooking their own meal and then cooking for me and their Dad when he got home from work.  I also like that we can have the sweet potato fries in the freezer and they are a great addition to my midweek arsenal.
