I just want to share with the world my husband, the father of our two children does not babysit his children.
babysitting – the work of a baby sitter; caring for children when their parents are not home
Note the fact that it is only babysitting when parents are not at home, not when their mother is not at home.
parenting – the care and upbringing of a child
So stop asking when I am not with the children is my husband is babysitting them or else I will growl at you and say no he is parenting.
Right there with ya!
Yes! This!! Why do people say that. It’s such an odd thing to say. Like the hubby is wheeled out to look after the kids in times of need.
Quite right! Juliex
I’m right there with you, it makes me very stabby to hear ‘is the husband baby sitting tonight?’
I kind of agree but I do class my husband as a babysitter as I have to lay everything out for him, write everything down, cook the food prior to going out and answer numerous calls as to what he needs to do.
He won’t bath them and I’ll find them asleep on the sofa instead of bed. To me unless I’m there too he acta more like a babysitter
Ha ha so with you on this! However i do know dads that do babysit and act like they are doing a massive favour to look after their own kids for a few hours – shocking! x
Haha, People never ask the Husband “Is the Wife babysitting?” not ever, lol! x
Hah, why do people do this!? It annoys me too! x
Yes – totally! Beautifully put and nothing more to say 🙂
You’re right, and that’s a great way to view your partner’s role!
Oh yes! I am in full agreement! It drives me mad too. No-one would ever ask a mother if she was “babysitting” her children. x
Couldn’t agree more – dads are equally parents to their children – not babysitters!!
