I always print my printables directly onto 160 gsm cardstock using my Epson Ecotank Printer rather than regular paper, this way they are a little more durable and the pens do not bleed through to the other side. However, if you do not have a home printer then just pop to a library and use theirs. I am also a big fan of Colour Me Kids Skin Coloured Pencils as they are brilliant for adding different skin tones.

How to Use:

1. Download the Nativity candle holder printables.

2. Print: First, print out your favorite designs. These printables are perfect for home printers and can be printed on standard A4 or letter-sized paper. You can even use cardstock for a sturdier tea light wrap.

3. Color: Let the kids (or yourself!) get creative with colors or simply cut and fold the pre-colored ones.

4. Cut: After coloring, carefully cut along the outer edges of the design. The dotted line on the square indicates where you’ll fold.

5. Fold and Glue: Fold along the dotted line and glue or tape the front sides to form a wrap. You don’t even need to use a hot glue gun, a thin layer from a glue stick works well Make sure the top part of the character stands upright and add a halo if needed.

6. Place the Tealight: Once assembled, place a battery-operated tealight inside the candle holder. The candlelight will give a soft, warm and best of all safe glow.

I wanted to ensure that the Hand Sanitiser had a label even just something that would mean something to us as we keep one at each of the entrance doors to our home.

My husband has always jokingly called it hands sanity, so that is where the idea for the sanity dispenser came from.

It is projects like this that I adore using my Cricut for and this design can be done on both the Cricut Joy or Cricut Maker. You could also use a glass etch if you wanted to make it permanent. I glass etched a water carafe and it stood up really well to daily use.

How to make a DIY Hand Sanitiser Label

Once you have downloaded your label SGV or using our cricut design, you need to cut the vinyl – We have done all the sizing for you on the cricut Design Space suitable for 500ml Brown Bottles.

Alternatively you need to ensure that they are the right size for your bottles. As we are using vinyl we didn’t need to mirror the image.

Weed the image. I like to do it on the mat and use tools to make it easier. Once you have weeded the vinyl use clear transfer tape to move your design from the vinyl backing to the glass. Using a store card, or vinyl applicator if you have one, press down the letters so that the transfer tape is fully stuck down and there are no air bubbles or bumps.

I applied the label by pressing the middle down first and then push from the middle outwards, making sure each bit is flat on the glass without any bumps before pushing it down. Once it is all stuck down, use your store card/applicator again to get rid of any last bubbles or bumps. 

Once you’re happy that it is stuck down fully, peel the transfer tape off carefully.

What Images Can I Upload To Cricut Design Space?

The main issue when uploading images to design space is making sure that they are copyright free or that the licence is suitable for what you need. Creative Commons has a great explanation on their licenses and it is key to make sure that you have a commercial licence if you are planning to sell any items that you use the image on.

Cricut has its own Angel Policy which clearly states its usage policy and allows for certain commercial usage. Other companies such as Disney only allow for personal use. So even though you can upload anything to Design Space it is your responsibility to make sure it isn’t copywritten.

What Files Types Can I Add To Cricut Design Space

• PNG or portable network graphic is an image type that’s commonly used in web design to provide transparent background files often screenshots save as PNG.
• JPEG Files is an image type often compressed and designed for photographs and uses a 24 colour pallet – this can cause images when you want to enlarge the image as it may become fuzzy.
• SVG is a Scalable Vector Graphic means you can scale up to any resolution making them perfect for resizing and making larger as they are clear as you do not lose definition.
• BMP – Which is a file type used by Microsoft Paintshop Pro.
• DXF – this is an AutoDesk file type associated with AutoCAD or Coral Draw

How to Add Images to Cricut Design Space

Click upload at the bottom of the left hand bar and then click upload images.

You can either drag and drop the image or browse your folders for it

Once uploaded you have the option to select and erase parts of your image by clicking the star on areas to be removed.

Once you choose a basic image to upload, it will show a preview on the left side and ask you to select the image type. You can choose from:

• Simple: a super basic image with high-contrast colors and either a transparent or single-color background
• Moderately Complex: an image with some details and multiple colors, but there is still good contrast between the subject of the image and the background
• Complex: a detailed image with blended colors or shading/gradient (these images are a little harder to work with because of the level of detail)

For this example I chose “Simple” because it’s a very simple 2 colour design. Then click the green “Continue” button.

The next step is to “process” the image to make sure only the parts you actually want cut out make it into your project. You have three basic tools you can use to process the image:

• Select & Erase: This is like the magic wand tool in PhotoShop; it allows you to select an area or specific colour in your uploaded image and erase it. If you click the “Advanced Options” button you can change the tolerance.
• Erase: This is just a standard eraser tool. You can change the size of your eraser using the slider on the left.
• Crop: You can crop away entire areas of your image using the Crop tool.

Make sure you give your image a name and also add tags so you can search for it in your image library.

Your uploaded image will appear in the Recently Uploaded Images section at the bottom of the Upload tab. Just select your uploaded image and click the green “Insert Images” button to add it to your project!

How to Make Geometric Tree Pillow or Cushion using Cricut Infusible Ink

In order to make it simpler to make this DIY Infusible Ink Pillow Cushion, I have already designed the geometric Tree pattern and sized it for the pillow blank.

Place your Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet on the Standard Grip Mat, liner side down. You may think the Infusible Transfer Sheet colour seems dull now and even blue rather than green, but wait until you see the finished project. The process of transferring the infusible ink makes the colour so vivid, it really pops!

When you’re ready to cut, click the “Make It” button. You need to make sure that you click the “Mirror” function. Select “Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet” from the list of materials. 

When it’s finished cutting, then you need to weed away the extra material from the transfer sheet liner. Cricut advise you do it with your fingers, which is easy by bending the image and removing along the lines especially for such a simple design.

The cut and weed the second sheet.

Use a lint roller to clean the surface of the bottle bag blank. It’s important to remove all lint. You can also use heatproof tape to hold the infusible image in place. Then check the Cricut Easy Press Heat Guide for temperature and instructions to press and set the image.

Iron on the first colour and allow to cool before adding the second colour.

TIP: It makes life much easier if you make sure your image is smaller than the size of your easy press as lifting it to move it means you might get ghosting as I did here.

How to Make DIY Christmas Coasters using Cricut Infusible Ink

In order to make it simpler for you, I have already designed the coasters and spliced them on to circles.

Place your Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet on the Standard Grip Mat, liner side down. You may think the Infusible Transfer Sheet colour seems dull now, but wait until you see the finished project. The process of transferring the infusible ink makes the colour so vivid, it really pops!

When you’re ready to cut, click the “Make It” button. You need to make sure that you click the “Mirror” function. Select “Infusible Ink Transfer Sheet” from the list of materials. 

When it’s finished cutting, then you need to weed away the extra material from the transfer sheet liner. Cricut advise you do it with your fingers, but I really struggled so used the tools.

Use the lint-free cloth which comes with the infusible ink to clean the surface of your coaster. It’s important to remove all lint. I use rubbing alcohol first to ensure that they are spotless and you need to use heatproof tape to hold the infusible image in place. DO NOT TRY WITHOUT THE TAPE. I did that last time and it leads to the image moving.

Place a piece of white cardstock on your Easypress Mat to protect it.

Place your coasters face down on top of the card stock on your pressing mat. Line them up and cover with the butcher paper that comes with the infusible ink.

TIP: Make sure that you can apply even pressure to all of the coasters or do them two at a time.

Prep your EasyPress 2: For this project, you will preheat your EasyPress 2 to 400 degrees F and set the timer for 240 seconds. 

After the 4 minutes is up (you don’t need any pressure), lift up the easy press off the coaster. The coaster will be RED HOT so let it cool before you touch it and remove the heat resistant tape and ink sheet.

I can not express just how shiny, bright and just amazing these DIY Christmas coasters turned out.

Our monkey puppet is a perennial favorite so this year we decided to make a reindeer Christmas puppet and yes, the coloured one has a bright red nose so it is Rudolf the Reindeer, but you could colour the others any way you want to make Vixen, Dasher, Dancer, Prancer, Commit or Cupid (Have I got all of Santa’s Sleigh pullers there)?

How to Make a Paper Articulated Reindeer Puppet Printable

Find Our Articulated Reindeer Pup on Cricut Design Space

If you have a Cricut you can find these projects in Design Space – Already coloured or to colour in.

We have two Reindeer puppet templates for you, a coloured one or a black and white one so you can colour it in or paint it yourself.

If you have a laminator then you can use cardstock and laminate your puppet.  Otherwise, print it on paper and stick to a cardboard cereal box. Firstly decided which reindeer template to use.  Children will adore colouring their own monkey in.

Then print it out and cut out all the parts. If you are using the pre-coloured reindeer then now is the perfect time to laminate. Alternatively using a glue stick adhere the paper to your cardboard cereal box and cut out.

Using your hole punch, make holes for the moving parts.  There are four in the reindeer’s body, one each in the arms and legs.  These are marked on the template for ease. I love how easy it is to customise the puppet by adding a pom pom nose or wiggle eyes. You could even add some jingle bells so you can hear the reindeer coming.

Now you need to thread your bakers/butchers twine on to your needle.  This is why it needs to have a large eye!

Next, take the thread and put from one arm to the next using the marks provided (If you are unsure how to thread your puppet there is a great tutorial here with video too).  Make sure the Reindeer’s arms are down not outstretched and tie off the twine.  Then do the same for the legs. Add a brad/split pin to connect your Reindeer’s arms and legs to the reindeer’s body.

Finally, you have to tie a piece of your twine from the piece connecting the arms to the piece connecting the legs.  It needs to be a long piece so it dangles down for you to pull to make the Reindeer’s dance!  This might take a little trial and error, but it is worth it and you can make adjustments with some sticky tape. If you have young kids then you will have to help them make it, but it helps with fine motor skills and toddlers will have so much fun with a puppet this Christmas Season.

There is something really magical about spending quality time with family over December. The small traditions that make this time of year remarkable and that cement memory in our children’s hearts. They don’t have to be expensive or take lots of time, in fact often children really love and remember the smallest things.

Our lovely kindness advent calendar is brilliant for engaging people with the true meaning of Christmas and these certainly bring joy throughout the dark month of December.

Our free printable features 24 envelopes and is perfect for teaching children the importance of being kind to others and 2020 certainly could do with some more kindness. It is perfect for showing children how small things can make other people happy.

This acts of kindness advent printable is really easy to use, just download, print, cut and fold. I have made it super easy for any Cricut owners out there and you can find the printable here for Cricut.

We decided to clip each envelope off a wire fairy lights using clear pegs and to pop numbers on the front. We even have a printable for the numbers (here for Cricut users)
