101 Ideas for using Felt Scraps 8

If you are anything like me that you do not throw anything way and I have a box full of felt scraps.  Felt is such a beautiful material and perfect for making things with as it doesn’t fray.  After using some of our felt scraps to make our Kandinsky inspired trees I decided to come up with some other ideas for using scraps of felt.

Rainbow rainmaker or rainstick – Cardboard tube craft 22

We love crafts that can be made from recyclables and this rainbow rainmaker is a great cardboard tube craft, plus is a great home made musical instrument.  There are lots of ways to adapt this project depending on the age of your kids, however, we decided to use some of my massive stash of washi tape and make our rainmaker a rainbow of colours. Traditionally rainmakers or rainsticks are believed to have been invented by the Aztecs and were played in the belief it could bring about rainstorms.  Rain is not something we need more of in the UK, but without rain, you would never get rainbows. Winter Snowflake Jar Luminary 13

If you have been following our blog for any length of time then you will know that we LOVE recycling glass jars and turning them into tealight holders.  I love being able to bring them out each season and use them to decorate our home and the boys love giving them as gifts.  Now that Halloween is over and we haven’t yet decorated for Christmas we had a need for something to fill the gap and we came up with a winter snowflake jar luminary.

I have been collecting pretty tea cups, saucers and tea plates from charity shops since the summer to turn them into tea cup candles for Mini and Maxi Mads teachers, teaching assistants and also the lovely ladies that run the toddler group we attend. So  I thought I would do a quick tutorial and let you know just how easy and child friendly this is to do more »
