Sometimes it helps to be purposeful and prepared for the summer holidays and this year after lockdown I thought it would be a great idea to produce a summer bucket list printable and yes this is actually a summer bucket for you to print out and add things that you and the children would like to do over the summer on.

My boys have already been home for 16 weeks already and with lots of things not happening over the summer this blank bucket list is fabulous for brainstorming summer activities with the kids.

How to make a summer bucket list with kids printable

I think the best way to do this is together with your family together with treats (food always encourages my family to the table) and then brainstorm things that you want to do.

If you have kids of multiple ages then they could each produce their own list using our Free Summer Bucket List Template and pin on their bedroom walls.

Sometimes it helps to split the activities up into different sections such as places to go, things to make, things to read etc. We also have a great summer planner printable that will help you do that.

I have always tried to make sure that the majority of the things on the list are affordable with a few more expensive treats through in.

Some of the most memorable times are when we all do unexpected things as a family. So everyone joining in on the water fight on a warm day (yes, me and the husbeast too)! Or perhaps a family bike ride with a BBQ at the end.

Often children just want to spend time with the people they love, so you could add in family time with grandparents or one to one movie dates or bowling with Dad or Mum. I actually love the idea of a personal trainer session with my teens.

If your children are anything like mine they might have slipped back in to the habit of reaching for screens first over this festive period.  Both the boys now have an Ipod, which seems permanently attached to their hands and I really have felt the need to look at ways to encourage them away from their reliance on technology.  I find that this is only really an issue over the dark winter months as during the lighter nights their first reaction is to play outside with their friends.

Yesterday we worked on our words for the year and Mini’s was Harmony as he is going to look at improving his temper and to try and not fight with Maxi!

Maxi’s word was Creative as he understands that he needs to be more creative in life and not look to technology all the time.

Maxi initially had issues with doing this activity, but it seems he just has problems with failure to transition from one activity to another.  Once he started this task he really enjoyed it and had so much fun.  I am hoping by having a word to focus on we can light that spark of imagination again and be a little more #ScreenFree.
