Autumn/Fall

Fall/Autumn Activities, Crafts and Food Roundup

This Fall/Autumn Activities, Crafts and Food Roundup is a showcase for all my favourite Autumn things to do with kids and as a family. One of the things I love best about where I live is the distinct change in seasons and being able to celebrate what those seasons bring and mean. Autumn here is a riot of colours, smells and feelings. Woodsmoke from fires and bonfires leaves as beautiful as flowers and crisp apples ripe for cooking and eating.

Easy DIY Fabric Pumpkins

I have asked my friend Mel from Sugar Bowl Crafts to share with us how to make her easy DIY fabric pumpkins. Seasonal decorating is becoming more and more popular in the UK and this simple craft activity of stuffed fabric pumpkins is a fun Autumn craft. What I love about this is that you can adapt the colours to coordinate with your home and they are super simple and fun to make.

Free Printable Autumn Bookmarks to Colour 8

I don’t know about you, but the darker nights are perfect for curling up with a good book and these free printable autumn bookmarks to colour (or fall bookmarks to colour if you are from across the pond) are just perfect.  They would make the perfect addition to any book you might gift too.

Ghosts in a Jar Halloween Craft 3

Ghosts in a Jar Halloween Craft is a paid collaborative post with Bostik.  Fancy catching some ghosts for your Halloween decoration, well we have you covered and these are really special ghost catching jars that stop them dematerialising. Yes, ghosts can go through walls, but these jars are magical and keep them captured and out of mischief!

Paper plate Autumn/Fall leaf wreaths 29

An autumn paper plate leaf wreath is the perfect fall activity or craft to make with your kids whatever their age.  Paper plates remain one of my favourite ways to make wreaths with kids due to their affordability, but also their flexibility.

Oreo Owl Cupcakes - Cooking with kids

Peanut Butter flavour Oreo Owl Cupcakes – Cooking with kids 3

How adorable are these owl cupcakes all made by Mini with Peanut Butter flavour Oreos.  We have been challenged by Oreo to produce a recipe using one of their exciting new flavours range that most suited our personality.   The options were Choc’o Brownie flavour Oreo – smooth, Mint flavour Oreo – cool, Peanut Butter flavour Oreo – nutty or Strawberry Cheesecake flavour Oreo – fruity.  Well seen as we are The Mad House there really was no choice – it had to be nutty!

Pumpkin paper plate weaving 14

Are you feeling all autumnal yet?  We certainly are.  We picked the last two butternut squash from our garden this week and are enjoying lots of pumpkin soup.  We are also still in the mood for pumpkin craft and I had some orange yarn left over from our pumpkin paper plate lacing craft, so we came up with a variation on our Sunflower paper plate weaving, Pumpkin paper plate weaving.

Autumn sun catcher. Make a beautiful cellophane sun catcher to celebrate fall. The black background really makes the autumnal colours pop. This is a super fun DIY craft activity for kids.

Autumn/fall leaf sun catcher 19

The Autumn sun is a lot lower in the sky and now is the perfect time to make some wonderful Autumn/Fall leaf sun catchers. The boys and I have such fun making these sun catchers and they are really effective and look beautiful when the sun shines through them singing the colours on to walls. Materials Cardstock – we used black leaf template Coloured Cellophane (this is one of the reasons we save sweet wrappers) glue
