I always print my printables directly onto 160 gsm cardstock using my Epson Ecotank Printer rather than regular paper, this way they are a little more durable and the pens do not bleed through to the other side. However, if you do not have a home printer then just pop to a library and use theirs.

  • 160 gsm card stock (for durability and better color saturation)
  • Printer (I use my Epson Ecotank Printer for vibrant colors)
  • Markers, crayons, or colored pencils for coloring
  • Scissors for cutting out each piece
  • Glue for assembling the village (and attaching bases if needed)
  • Optional: Glitter, small LED lights, or cotton wool for added holiday magic!

3. Cut Out the Pieces: Carefully cut out each piece of the village. To preserve your creation for years to come, consider laminating each piece before assembling.

4. Arrange Your Village: Use the fold lines and “paste” tabs to create 3D shapes. Arrange your Christmas village on a wall, windowsill, or tabletop. Add cotton wool for snow, string lights, or mini holiday decorations to complete the festive scene.

Ideas for Personalizing Your Village:

Make your village truly unique by adding extra details. Kids can design shop signs for the buildings, add small stickers, or even draw additional decorations on the houses. In a classroom setting, students can each be assigned a piece of the village to color, cut, and assemble, such as a house, tree, or character. Once completed, each student’s piece can be combined to create a vibrant, custom holiday village that reflects the unique creativity of every child. Bring the holiday spirit to life with this DIY Christmas Village! Kids will love building their own mini village with these adorable printable paper crafts!

Here’s how to implement this in a classroom:

1. Assign Pieces: Distribute different elements of the village to small groups or individual students, allowing them to take ownership of a part of the project.

2. Personalize and Color: Provide markers, colored pencils, crayons, or even paint to let students bring their pieces to life. Encourage them to add special details or holiday touches to make each piece unique.

3. Assemble the Village Together: Once colored, help students cut out and assemble their pieces. Teachers can laminate the pieces for durability, ensuring the village can be displayed all season long.

4. Display as a Winter Wonderland: Create a designated space in the classroom, such as a bulletin board, shelf, or windowsill, where the village can be set up. Add cotton wool for snow, string lights, and other festive accents to make it truly magical.

5. Celebrate Creativity and Teamwork: Host a small “reveal” event where students can walk around and view the completed village, appreciating everyone’s contributions. This shared project will not only beautify the classroom but also give students a lasting sense of accomplishment.

A classroom Christmas Village is a wonderful way to encourage cooperation, creativity, and holiday spirit. Plus, it’s a project that students can look back on with pride, knowing they contributed to a beautiful, collaborative display that brightened the season!

Encourage your students’ families to see their child’s part in the project by taking photos or sharing them online. It’s a beautiful way to spread holiday joy and make the classroom feel like a cozy, winter village!
