I have always loved playhouses and encouraging the kids to play outside no matter what the weather. What with the weather in the UK being inclement, to say the least, a playhouse is a great investment for any family. When it comes to playhouses the cooler the better, so here in conjunction with What Shed we bring you our coolest playhouses for kids.

Playhouses come in all shapes and sizes and there are a few things to consider before making your purchase. As far as I am concerned size matters and the bigger the better! You want a playhouse to last as long as possible so consider the size of your garden, the age of your kids and also your budget. You also want to consider the material it is made from and the weather in your country too.

My boys are obsessed with all thinks Tolkien and this Hobbit house would be loved by any Lord of the Rings fans.
We can not believe that this is even a playhouse!
A playhouse with a slide would make my boys extra happy. I love that it is off the grass meaning you could turn under it in to a store for all thoise wheeled toys.
I know that my boys would love this playhouse. It would turn into the perfect tween/teen den.
This next playhouse is grander than my actual home, but I would have loved this as a child and know a few kids that would like to live in it.
What is not to love about a clubhouse with a telescope to see who is coming or to star gaze.
Oh and just look at this DIY clubhouse with a twister slide and a climbing wall. Every boys dream.
Anyone that knows me will attest to the fact that I love all things mid-century modern and this glass playhouse as that vibe. OK, not somewhere to hide in, but somewhere to enjoy all that nature has to offer.
Playhouses are great for encouraging outdoor play as well as providing a shelter from the sun and the rain. They are brilliant for imaginative and small world play. My boys used to use their playhouse a lot when they were smaller. We had a kitchen in it and I was often served a delicious cup of mud tea or leaf soup!
