Does coffee cake have coffee in it?
The funny thing is I am so not a coffee drinker. it is tea all the way for me, in a pot with leaves and a strainer. But I LOVE a nice coffee cake and I am going to admit for the longest time I thought that coffee cakes never had real coffee in them, but they do!
However, a lot of the US recipes for German Coffee cake don’t actually have coffee in them, which is weird, but from what I can gather is were served alongside warm cup of coffee. Hence the name Coffee Cake!
Does Coffee Cake have caffeine in it?
Lots of people will tell you the secret is using the very best coffee that you can and to never use instant coffee when baking. Other swear by instant coffee. So yes coffee cake does have caffeine in it, but only the tiniest amount as coffee is only a small ingredient. If you are concerned that I would suggest using replacing it with decaffeinated coffee in the below coffee cake recipes.

How to store your Coffee Cake
Here are our top tips for storing coffee cake:
- Store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
- Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
We like our coffee cake warm. To reheat: Warm in microwave for 10-second increments until warm. To heat in the oven remove any plastic wrap, then wrap in tin foil. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (180 degrees c) and heat for 6-8 minutes or until warm.
