We have been making our own Christmas crackers for years. It was a tradition started by my mum and I have continued. Each year a person was responsible for finding the cracker presents for each guest at the Christmas dinner. Over the years I have made lots of different designs and these crackers to colour with kids is based on my tried and tested Christmas cracker template which is the perfect size to use a toilet roll in the centre of to stabilise.
What Are Christmas Cracker Colouring Printables?
These printables are designed to let your kids create their very own custom Christmas crackers. Each cracker is packed with fun illustrations—snowmen, bells, Christmas trees, and more—that your children can color in any way they like. Once they’ve colored them, you can assemble the crackers and fill them with small treats, toys, a party hat and jokes for a special Christmas surprise! You can even add the traditional snap to make your party go off with a bang! My kids have always said that crackers are the best part of Christmas Dinner.
What you need:
- Cracker Template.
- Pens, pencils or watercolours to colour the crackers.
- Cracker Snaps or bangers (UK Link/US Link)

- Ruler
- Pair of scissors and a Craft knife
- Toilet rolls or cardboard tubes

I always print my printables directly onto 160 gsm cardstock using my Epson Ecotank Printer rather than regular paper, this way they are a little more durable and the pens do not bleed through to the other side. However, if you do not have a home printer then just pop to a library and use theirs.

How to Make Your Christmas Crackers:
1. Download and Print: Start by downloading the Christmas cracker printables.
Print them out on sturdy paper or cardstock for the best results.
2. Color and Customize: Let your kids use their favorite crayons, markers, or colored pencils to color in the fun Christmas designs.
3. Cut and Assemble: Once colored, carefully cut along the lines and cut out the diamonds (this makes folding the crackers easier). I used a craft knife and a self-healing mat. A metal ruler makes this so much eaier.
Then fold and glue the cracker into shape. A toilet roll is the perfect size to roll the cracker around.
Double-sided tape or an adhesive roller is perfect for glueing the paper around the toilet roll. Add a strip to the rear on one of the long edges.
If you print the colouring page on to 160gsm paper (which goes through my inkjet printer) you don’t need to use a toilet roll, however, it makes it so much easier – you can see in the video that I don’t always use a tube (I only had three)!
4. Fill: Fill your crackers with tiny gifts, sweets, or fun jokes and the snap. Then tie off the ends with ribbon. You can secure it with an elastic band first if you wish.
5. Pull: Traditionally crackers are served with Christmas dinner and you pull with others around the dining table. The person with the longer end wins the prize inside. They create so much excitement on Christmas Day!
