Downbload your free summer planner and keep the kids entertained over the summer . We love summer, have you guessed yet. I adore spending the six weeks of the summer with my boys. I am lucky in that I can juggle my work and spend a lot of time with them. I also feel the strain sometimes at keeping the kids entertained over summer.
The summer holidays for me means achieving a balance of screen free summer fun and also time for the boys on their screens. I don’t want the first thing the boys reach for when they are bored to be technology. I want them to be able to learn to amuse themselves. I have been working with Tesco and their Summer Boost Clubcard scheme to come up with some fab ideas for you.
One of the ways I do that is with our bored jar. It is filled with a selection of fun activities, some family based, some to do on their own and also a selection of chores too! We sit down as a family before the holidays to make a list of our must do’s. This year I have made a super simple summer planner for us all to fill in.

We are doing a bored bucket. Crucial difference is my two need to think of a level of difficulty to go on each of their ideas. E.g. We can do that today” or ” we need to plan for this.”
Ooh I love that planner! Such a great idea 🙂
Your Comments I plan to do 3/4 things for each week 1 free 1 played for 1 craft/cooking then i will search websites looking for ideas & have my whloe six week holidays mapped out on a planner near enough to the day that way it doesnt end up costing a fortune.
this planner is amazing i really need to get more organised because there is lots of activities we would love to do !!!
sometimes with our weather it isnt possible to plan and you just need to make the most of the dry weather, so get out there and enjoy it
Plan ahead so your not dissapointed! 🙂
Buy tickets onlne in advance, saves a fortune compared to on the gate prices
Thanks for the planner and activity ideas, I’m already struggling for ideas for the 6 weeks holiday!
Your CommentsLook for vouchers and plan ahead x
I love your planners, they’re fab – I just need to get my damned printer fixed!
My best tip is to use a calendar to plan things out. I’m good at using one generally but tend to be a bit free and easy over the holidays which means I often double-book things!
Set a weekly budget and then plan accordingly – also have a plan fordifferent weather!
Ohhh I love the bored jar I think I will be making one of those for this summer!
i use my clubcard vouchers to redeem for days out and meals
It will soon be here wont it. Thank you for the planner. Hopefully we will have nice weather so we can have lots of paddling pool play again
I’m following your board – need all the help I can get this summer! Having said that, my two are at the age when it’s enjoyable to do activities with them both, so I can’t complain too much.
Plan for wet and dry weather
The planner is a great idea, I will use that as I often forget about things I have seen to do whilst out and about. I use Pinterest as well for planning days out so I have a board for inspiration and to remember places to visit.
Love the idea of the summer planner, letting the kids have input too means they cant say “im bored” lol xx
super to plan ! I am going to plan even though my son is a teen never hurts to plan
I do like your planner and the boys’ picks of toys. The Minecraft one would go down a storm in our house. I hadn’t really thought about planning art, reading, etc. I do keep a few bits up my sleeve though for rainy days or when we need to change plans. I like to find out what events are on over the summer for little or no cost, so stuff that the local council are running at the library say or events at National Trust or English Heritage properties as we have membership.
I love the idea of the planner and it is always nice to have something to look forward too x
Check in the bottom of those school bags, lots of info and literature given out by schools including free tickets.
Find a park nearby and get there every chance you get.
try and organise everything early, look for deals and offers like the ones on cereal boxes to save money and take packed lunches/picnis as buying food out is ridiculously priced
oh i do love this idea and i am going to give it a try to
Your planner is a great idea. I like your son’s choices of toys. The Minecraft and football things would go down very well with my children.
So many great ideas as always Jen, the planner is brilliant. You could have planners and printables in your fantastic craft book I keep imagining you’re going to publish xx
We have a list of must do’s!
great ideas I’ve only got 2 days of for August for annual leave I’m gutted 🙁
Love the planner, I’m a huge list maker so need to plan our days out 🙂
Your CommentsBuy tickets onlne in advance
Yay, we love the summer too and I can’t wait for it. This is a brilliant printable, thank you!
i love to search all the different free activities/events going on in the holidays for my boys
I search all my local government websites for free or low cost activities around my area
FAMILY DAYS OUT DONT HAV TO ENDUP COSTING A FORTUNE – THIS SUMMER MAKE THE MOS OF OUR LOVEL PLAYPARKS AND BEACHES – TAKE A PICNIC ALONG. KIDS LOVE A PICNIC AND IS CHEAPER THAN BUYING
My top tip would be – be prepared to change your plans, sometimes this happens due to weather and invitations – most of all have fun and enjoy as the days go far too quickly.
Search local paper website for free holiday activities 🙂
Arrange lots of days out for the kids. They allow you plenty of quality time with the family, and provide plenty of experiences to fire the imagination. The seeds of inspiration 🙂
Don’t feel that you have to fill every day, sometimes a day at home watching movies is the perfect relax!

Have a backup plan for rainy days
write your ideas down as you remember them and keep them for next year!
Try and find as many free activities as possible!
Plan ahead and make sure options are put in place for any weather so to make sure there won’t be any disappointment
we have a list to do in warm weather and on rainy days, so depending on the day we pick one or few things to do from our list. And family member who thinks of a new activity to go on the list gets a treat 🙂
Its good to plan summer trips especially when travelling with children. a supply of pencils, colouring books, card games etc are always a good start.
Set a weekly budget and plan ahead on how to spend it. Get the children involved in the planning and stick to your plans
