A scavenger hunt is a fun way to encourage children to practice using their observation skills whilst also keeping them busy too.

I am a big fan of outdoor scavenger hunts as they can turn a walk into an adventure and all you really need is the hunt printed out and a pencil (although a clipboard makes it easier and you can tie the pencil to the clipboard if you want to be all fancy)!

Our scavenger hunts work for younger children of kindergarten age as they have pictures, but for older children, they also have the words, so it is great for letter recognition too.

This Garden Scavenger hunt is brilliant for birthday parties as all the kids can join in and it is basically keeping them occupied in your own backyard or garden. This backyard scavenger hunt isn’t complicated and you could make your own, but we know how busy Mums are so we have designed it as a PDF so all you have to do is download and print it.

I love taking a printable scavenger hunt on local nature trail walks it really helps children connect with nature exploration and you can make it even more fun by putting together a nature detective pack together with a magnifying glass, bug collector and hat.
