Handprint Sun Craft – A simple Kids Craft

This handprint sun is a simple craft for kids and a great summer-themed craft perfect for working on scissors and fine motor skills. Plus I adore the yellow and orange as it’s so happy and joyous. As the children are using their hands to draw around this would be a brilliant keepsake for grandparents.

This handprint sun can be as simple or messy as you want. You can make it easier by using a paper plate and if you don’t want to get the paint out you could use yellow paper plates. Alternatively, if you are up for some messy fun, get the paint out and use plain paper and a paper plate to let the kids’ creativity flow. The summer is perfect for this as you can take the painting outside.

Looking for an engaging and educational activity for your kids this summer? Look no further! Our Handprint Sun Craft is not only simple to execute, but it's also loads of fun. Let your kids express their creativity with this delightful craft that's perfect for summer days. Get started today! 🌞

It is also adaptable for a group of children and age groups as you can get the older children to help the younger children draw around their hands and cut them out, but I think that is all part of the fun. So let this fun craft bring the sunshine to your life.

How to make a Paper Plate Handprint Sun

It is great to find fun activities that don’t require lots of specialist craft supplies, instead, this can be made with what you have in the house already.

Instructions

We didn’t have any paper plates in the house, so we traced around a dining plate on the yellow cardstock, and then cut it out. Card is harder to cut than construction paper, so I would use that for younger kids.

Either trace your child’s hand onto the construction paper or get them to do it themself. Then cut each handprint out.

Tip: If you cut out one handprint, it can be used as a template to draw around for the other handprints.

Put the handprints all around the circle as the rays of the sun using a gluestick.

Alternate between yellow and orange hands for each of the sun rays.

You could take this one step further by adding googly eyes and a smiling face, but we loved it just as it was.
