We were challenged by Philadelphia to create something that could be had at lunchtime, took little preparation and less than five minutes to make. So Mini and I put our heads together and decided to have a go at making a healthy ish chocolate pot.
Sometimes there are days when nothing but chocolate will do, so this is our way of getting a hit of chocolate, that is satisfying and filling at the same time. My biggest tip would be to make sure your avocado is ripe.

Healthy (ish) chocolate pots - cooking with kids
Ingredients
- Pot of Philadelphia
- An Avocado
- 2 tablespoons heaped of cocoa powder
- Teaspoon of vanilla extract
- Date syrup to taste
- Crushed or chopped hazelnuts
Instructions
-
Blend the cream cheese, avocado, cocoa powder and vanilla extract to a smooth consistency.
-
Add date syrup to taste - Mini likes it sweet!
-
Top with crushed hazelnuts
This is a really simple recipe and really easy for children to make. Mini loves using the blender and it doesn’t work if the lid isn’t on correctly, so I know that he is using it safely.
Mini took his role in this make very seriously nad decided that he had to style the shoot in the garden and then take the pictures and then eat the chocolate pots! He did share one with Maxi though.
oooh – these sound yummy! will be testing out soon x
Those look delicious, the Philadelphia is interesting! My Mum makes lemon cheesecake with cottage cheese 🙂
Do you know, I never would have considered putting avocado and chocolate together. Avocado and cheese, yes! Will definitely give it a whirl! 🙂
i like the teacups! these look delicious.
Mmm these look gorgeous! Love avocados but never thought of doing them sweet! Yum, yum loving this as an idea and I love the tea cups too!
I really want to try this, it sounds so quick and easy and I love the idea of getting avocado into my kids by stealth – they used to love it as babies and called it “green toast” but have now gone off it 🙁
These sound interesting. I’m not a huge fan of avocado but disguised in chocolate I’m sure I could give it a try!
I really dislike avocado but I imagine it is disguised by chocolate x
Oooh an avocado that tastes like chocolate – brilliant! That’ll be one way to get the little ‘uns eating the green stuff!
Fabulous idea……wonder if mine will notice
I love how you served them in teacups – so pretty!
I’ve heard of using avocado and chocolate together to make dessert before – need to give it a try! x
Oooh sounds good!!! I love Philadelphia and cheese but wouldn’t have thought of adding avocado x
I love your addition of healthy (ish)! These look yum – anything full of choc is good in my book 🙂
I love the sound of these. Mine don’t like avocado any more – despite devouring it as babies – so it’s a great way to persuade them that it’s worth another try.
Ooh these do look yummy and the presentation is wonderful. x
Kaycee would love to make these. She always wants to make our desserts so I’m always on the look out for ones she can do on her own 🙂
Oh these look delicious
Oh I like the sound of this!
Yummm, they look delicious
These look very tasty! My son and boyfriend would love these.
Oh this looks scrummy and yummy and healthy too! We love avocados and would never have thought of using them like this!
These look so good. I want to eat one right now! And bless Mini, setting up a little photo shoot outside. x
Ooh these look amazing – I love the cup and saucer. SO effective. Thanks so much for joining in with #Bakeoftheweek. Great to have you part of the gang x
This looks like something right up my street. I’ve been using avocado a lot recently in baking – makes everything so tasty and creamy #bakeoftheweek
You had me at healthy-ish chocolate! I am going to try this this week #BakeOfTheWeek
The teacups make this look so fancy and cute. I like the idea of adding the cream cheese for a less ‘heavy’ avocado chocolate mousse than the regular ones.
