We had a blast when we made our New Year Confetti Hot glue gun numbers and we had a rather large amount of confetti left, so we decided to have a go at making a hot glue gun confetti heart cake topper for valentines day.

Both of my boys are obsessed with using the hot glue gun, so I made sure that they got involved and helped me make them and I can see every occasion and celebration this year having confetti cake toppers!
Confetti Heart Cake Topper

Materials:
- Metallic or paper confetti
- Parchment paper
- Hot glue gun
- Number or letter template

How to make Confetti Heart Cake Toppers
Print off your template for your letters of numbers. You can make one on Word and place it underneath your parchment paper. You should be able to see your template through it. Or you can do like we did and use a cookie cutter as a template directly onto the parchment paper.

Trace over your template with glue onto the parchment paper. Allow it to dry before adding another couple of layers of glue.

Add your cocktail stick into the glue before the next layer of hot glue. If you are using a low melt glue gun, you want to add about 2 inches of glue before piling on some confetti and continuing round your number, stopping every couple of inches to add more confetti. If you are using a hot melt one, then you can trace the whole of the heart and pile on the confetti!

Allow your glue to completely set before peeling it off the parchment paper.

Before turning over and repeating on the other side. If you have confetti on the larger side (like we did) then you can trim the edges with a pair of scissors.

Pop on to your cake and enjoy!
Brilliant! I am always looking for new ways to use my hot glue gun, and this would be perfect for my daughter’s 7th birthday in the summer, thanks for the inspiration x

I love these – it’s been years since I used a glue gun, but after reading this and seeing how easy it looks I think I may have to invest in one for Boo’s party in July 🙂

I have had a glue gun for years, but have never been brave enough to try it. Perhaps this would be a good place to start!
