There is nothing better than receiving a homemade christmas card, even more so in today’s technological times. My boys run to the door at Christmas time to collect the cards and they get so much joy in opening them. So we love making our own cards and we hope that this years kid made fingerprint wreath Christmas card brings joy to others.
We have been making fingerprint Christmas cards since my children were babies. Back then we used a stencil with poster paint and made sure that I always had baby wipes and a bowl of soapy water handy. Nothing much has changed in the last ten years. I still make sure that I have baby wipes on hand, but we have moved on to ink pads of various colours and my boys add the accents on to the cards themselves where I used to do that when they were younger.

Blank cards or card stock to fold in half to make a card
Paint or inkpads
Felt tip pen in brown – we used a Sharpie with extra fine tip, but I wouldn’t recommend permanent markers with little ones!
Merry Christmas stamp – optional
Baby wipes
Instructions
Draw the bark or stems of your wrath on to your card. You can free hand the circle or you could use a cup to draw round lightly in pencil to create a guide. As my boys are older they freehand drew the twigs using a brown extra fine sharpie. If you have younger children you could do this part for them.
We have become big fans of small single-coloured ink pads for fingerprint cards. They are so simple to use and much less messy than paper plates with poster paint on. Either way a little mess never hurt anyone, just make sure you have baby wipes on hand!
Maxi chose to have two different coloured leaves and red for his berries for this wreath card. We applied the greens first one at a time before moving on to the red berries.
We use a Merry Christmas stamp to add our festive message, I always found that my children loved using stamps, but you can write one or even use washi tape with Merry Christmas on.
I love how something can look so different when my two children do it. Maxi decided that his wreath needed a gold ribbon!
I know that I would be delighted to receive one of these cards, would you?
