I was walking down the high street the other day and I caught a reflection in a shop window and it took my breath away. I could have sworn that I caught a glimpse of my mum, but that would have been impossible as she has been dead nearly five years. What I actually saw was me, but not the me in the mirror, the real me.
So when I was offered some Liz Earle Superskin™ Face Serum to try I thought yes, I need to give this a try. The face serum is designed for mature skin and now I am over 40 I am certainly in that bracket! it is designed to plump and smooth mature skin.
I am a big fan of Liz Earle products. My mum introduced them to me way back in 1996 and we both used their Cleanse and Polish and to this day I still do. Maxi and MIni had their first baths using their Orange Flower Botanical Body Wash and I love their hair oil for my frizzy hair.
I have extremely sensitive skin and also due to my health background I try to use products that paraben free as much as possible. So when I find a product that works for me I tend to stick to it.
Since the boys were born I have a very basic skin care routine. I Cleanse and Polish morning and night, tone and follow with a moisturiser. I use Elemis pro-collagen marine cream as a day cream and Neal’s Yard Beauty sleep concentrate for nights. The great thing about the Liz Earle Superskin™ Face Serum is that you use it in addition to your normal routine as an additional layer of moisturiser morning or night.
I have been using it for over a week now and I think that you can feel a difference in my skin. It is softer. After about 2 days my cheeks were a little drier, but that soon disappeared and to be honest it could have been the fact that we turned the heating on!
One of the lovely things about Liz Earle Superskin™ Face Serum is that is smells delicious, as do all their products. I love the fact that it is in a pump bottle makes it easy to apply just the amount you need and you are not popping your fingers into a jar. Speaking of the bottle it is really weighty and feels nice in your hand and I love how it looks on my shelf (fickle I know)!
Liz Earle Superskin™ Face Serum retails at £48.00, which can seem a little expensive initially, but for experience I know that they last and work out to be good value per use. Plus I figure that as I know my skin a lot better and buy much fewer products than I used to means that I spend less annual on lotions and potions (with the exception of eye cream as I just can not find one that suits my skin). I live it and will buy it again. My only gripe is I can not tell when it will be empty as you can not see in the bottle.
Have you noticed your skin change as you get older? I would love to know what products you use and what rout regime is?

I’m starting to feel I need to use something expecially around my eyes. This looks like a useful product. Thanks for sharing. I may just I and check it out. P.s beginning to look like my mum too!

I use Boots No7 Protect & Perfect Intense advanced day & night cream, I have never found anything that makes my skin feel so amazing.
I’ve not tried LIz Earle before, but I have been trying the serum and I really like it. It’s definitely made my skin softer, and without being greasy or oily at all. Ithink over 40 your skin changes somuch from what it was whenyou were younger,it’s nice tofind something that actually helps remove some of those years!
How have i not heard of this brand before! i have super dry skin and its super sensitive so often products make mine worse but this sounds wonderful
I love the Liz Earle range and have used the hot cloth cleanser for the last few years now. I haven’t tried this serum yet but will definitely check it out next time I am buying skincare products.
My skin has really dried our as I have got older. I am a bit of a product junkie and have tried lots of serums and moisturisers though never Liz Earle! Will have to make amends! My current fave is Elemis skin bliss capsules – the nighttime ones are divine.
I am really liking this. It is definitely making my skin feel softer and plumper I’d say x
This sounds rather lovely Jen, seems like you’re enjoying it. I am also over 40 *cough* so my skin isn’t the same as it used to be. Still sensitive and dry but also spot prone since I had POD. Weird I know – never got spots before!
I’ve used Liz Earle before and loved it! The serum will go a really long way and don’t worry – you’ll know when it’s empty!! You just won’t have any warning:-)
I have to admit to loving Liz Earle products but this isn’t one I have tried. I shall perhaps have to add it to my next order. x
I haven’t tried Liz Earle and if I am honest the price would put me off. Cheap and cheerful for me
I’m not a huge fan of creams etc … I mostly wash with water and that be the end of it but sadly my skin is starting to look older and in need of a boost!
This looks great, hopefully I won’t need to use it for a few years yet though!
I’m a bit of a fan of Liz Earle products, although I must admit I rarely splash out on them. I do like her cloth cleanser though and I’m liking the sound of this serum.
I love Liz Earle products, they’re amazing! I switched to Liz Earle face products last year but I haven’t tried this one.
Intersted to hear about the Mumsnet panel! I hear everyone rave about Liz Earle, when what I am using runs out while have to give it a whirl. I have combination skin so I am always worried about switching to new stuff. Def need some serum though!
I’ve never used Liz Earle products but they sound great – I really like the packaging too.
I used the moisturiser and cleanser, it smells wonderful.
This looks great and may need to add to my collection
I hear you ref raging skin and needing a bit of tlc. I’m a big fan of Alienist at the moment and use their cream on my face and eyes. It’s a bit pricey like the Liz Earle but it does last for ages and does the job!
