Make a Toilet Roll Microphone for the SING Movie

This simple toilet roll microphone is in partnership with Universal Pictures Home Entertainment.  We are so excited for the release of the SING on Blu-ray and DVD on 22nd May, we have been getting prepared by making our own toilet roll microphone so we can sing along.

My boys loved the SING movie when it was on at the cinema and I can not wait to enjoy it with them for our family movie night week.  Mini and I decided to make our own microphones so we can join in with the contestants and try and impress Buster Moon!

SING is from the same studio that made our favourite family movie Despicable Me.  It is a take on the talent shows that you see now on TV and Matthew McConaughey stars as Buster Moon, an eternally optimistic koala who puts on the world’s greatest singing competition to save his theatre.

Reese Witherspoon is Rosita, an overworked and unappreciated mother of 25 piglets desperate to unleash her inner diva; Scarlett Johansson as Ash, a punk rock porcupine with a beautiful voice behind her prickly exterior andTaron Egerton as Johnny, a young gangster gorilla looking to break free of his family’s felonies.

How to Make a Toilet Roll Microphone

We kept our microphone super simple and used things that we had around the house.  I remember singing into my hairbrush as a child and this just takes it up a level! This really is the perfect simple craft activity for younger children.

Paint your cardboard tube and egg – we used black ready mixed tempura paint.  If you do not fancy getting the paint out you could cover your toilet roll with duct tape, washi tape or even felt tip pens.

Glue your egg into the tube (pointy side down) once the paint is dry.
