Homemade pizza is delicious and has been a staple in our home since we got our first bread maker over twenty years ago. Over the years, I have perfected that initial recipe and now I am going to share with you how to make the perfect bread maker pizza dough.

We were challenged by Sage Appliances to use their Custom Loaf Pro bread maker to develop a recipe for #RealBreadWeek along the theme of “doughing it for the kids”. Over the years, I have learned that encouraging children to get involved in making their meal encourages them to try new foods and one of the best ways of doing this is with pizza. Once you have perfected a pizza base recipe then you can let the kids loose on rolling and topping their pizzas.

- pinch of salt
- 1 sachet of yeast
- 340 ml of warm water
How to make perfect bread maker pizza dough

It really is as simple as placing the ingredients into your bread maker, with the water and liquid ingredients first and then the dry ingredients.

The Sage Custom Loaf Pro bread maker has a loaf tin inside which is really easy to remove with the handle. So Maxi could just place it onto our scales and weigh ingredients directly into in saving on washing up.
Pick the appropriate dough setting. Leave the required time and 50 minutes later you have perfect pizza dough ready to use.

Roll into three 12 inch pizza bases.

If you are looking for deeper basis, then cover the dough tin with the pizza dough in with cling film or a shower cap (this is why I always save shower caps from hotels) and allow to rise for 30 or so minutes longer. Preheat your oven to 230 degrees centigrade and cook for 12 minutes.

I love that the Sage Custom Loaf Pro bread maker has delay option so I can pop all the ingredients in, set the delay and go out for the day knowing when I return the dough will be ready for me to roll out and make the pizza. This means we can have pizza on the table in less time than ringing fotakeawayaway and they taste far nicer. In fact Mini will not have shop bought pizza any longer, only home made.
Pizza Topping Bar

When you have younger children it can be good fun to create a pizza topping bar with options for toppings.

Pretty much anything can be a pizza topping. When we visited our friends in South Africa we were introduced to bacon and banana, which sounded terrible, but tasted delicious!

Disclosure: We were sent a Sage Custom Loaf Pro bread maker for this post. We love it and have already used it four times in less than two weeks and this is our third bread maker in just over 20 years as we use a breadmaker at least three times a week.

We love making pizza dough in our breadmaker too. It’s always a lot of fun and my son loves getting involved.
I often get plain pizza bases and we put on our own toppings – always lots of fun. I’ll definitely give this recipe a go though – it would be nice to make the whole thing from scratch!
I’ve never thought to use my bread maker for pizza dough but it’s a great idea. Thanks!
We love making our own pizzas here too, and the kids Loive decorating/making a mess
I’m so bookmarking this! We always make our own pizza dough but this sounds better than my existing version 🙂 x
I used to love making dough in my bread maker but sadly it broke and we have no replaced it
Must give this a go in the bread maker. We love home made pizza but not made this yet. Yum x
I love the idea of a pizza topping bar for the kids. I think I’ll do that the next time we have a few little friends round.
I love getting the kids involved with making pizza although we make ours by hand – it’s their favourite tea x
It must be lovely to get the smell of fresh baked bread wafting from your kitchen.
The nearest ive ever got to making my own pizza is telling Asda what I want on it, I am intrigued by this.
We love pizza here so should really give this a try! I would have never thought of using a bread maker like this x
Oh gosh I need a breadmaker, POD would love to make proper pizza. She has done in the past but with a kit or at Pizza Express as part of a party. All I can think about now is the smell of freshly baked bread, yum! This is just great 🙂
