Modius Headset Review

Back in April, I received a Modius weight loss headset to review and now we are past 3 months in, I wanted to do a full review of the Modius Headset.

This is a paid collaborative post with Modius and I have been given a headset for the purposes of this project. Modius Weightloss Headset Review

The Science Behind the Headset

The Headset helps promote weight loss via vestibular stimulation. It does this by shooting small amounts of electricity into your head via 2 pads placed on your mastoid bone behind your ear. The vestibular nerve is known to influence the hypothalamus and brain stem and possibly reduce your cravings and appetite. You can read more about the science behind the headset here.

Using the Modius Headset

The longer I used the headset the easier it became for me. I find it really simple to use now I am in a routine. Since using the barrier spray I haven’t had any reactions to the pads. I simply spray behind my ears, leave it 30 seconds and then attach the pads, lave them for a minute (to help adhesion) and then attach the headset.

I talked about the side effects in a previous post and I still experience the seasickness feeling but have managed to move up from level 5 to level 9.You are adviced to wear the headset for at least 45 minutes for at least 5 days a week and wearing the headset has become part of my weekday evening routine (I have weekends off) and I have been using it for an hour at a time.

Modius Weightloss Headset review - Does it work? Is it worth it? Find out what I thought when I tried it for three months.

Has it worked?

Before using the Modius Headset I had been the same weight for the last 6 years. As part of my illness, I am weighted on a 3 monthly basis to work out my medications, so I have a record of my weight. Not even a bout of Noro changed my weight.

I am not going to share my weight but I am happy to say that in total I have lost 3kg which is 6.6 pounds. That might not seem a lot, but for me, it has been a major motivator. It made me realise that it is not just what I put into my body (which if you know me is all healthy, balanced food), but the fact that I have allowed my condition to remove a lot of the activeness that I used to have. Yes, my condition makes it hard to climb mountains but I need to make more of an effort to increase my activity and I have booked private pilates lessons as a start.

Before and After the modius headset
Before and After

I am disappointed that I haven’t lost more weight, but the headset doesn’t work for everyone and I think I am one of those 20%. But I also didn’t make any other changes during the review period and I think that as part of a healthy lifestyle change Modius could be the kick start that you are looking for.
