Octopus watercolour glue resist art 8

We have been long time fans of glue resist art here in the Mad House and this octopus watercolour glue resist art project is great fun for kids of all ages.  I have tailored this towards tweens by using a hot glue gun with back glue.   We like using glue guns for art projects as they dry super fast and are perfect for impatient people like me!

Creamy Leek and Mustard Chicken

Creamy Leek and Mustard Chicken – Cooking with kids 14

One of the most monotonous bits of parenting is feeding.  I swear I spend hours thinking about what to prepare, shop for and cook that we will all eat as a family.  You see, I want to prepare something healthy, scrummy and delicious and to see empty plates at the end of the meal.  Our dinner times are sacred and I want to keep them that way.  I see a good meal as a way of bringing my hungry boys to the table each night.  This Creamy Leek and Mustard Chicken meal is a fantastic meal which was a big hit with my family.

Putting together a winter health survival pack 8

In the past I have written about strengthening our winter defences naturally and why I think that it is important that we keep on top of looking after our bodies in the most natural way we can.  As someone who has been through a health scare I try and keep our immune systems healthy as possible as naturally as possible and really believe that taking care of myself and the boys is really important, so I will always take preventative measures when possible.

Firework Art – Cable tie firework sculptures 19

Do you love fireworks?  I have such fond memories of the annual firework displays that used to take place on the stray each November 5th when I was growing up.  Cold toes, hot chocolate from the flask and sparklers in gloved hands.  I remember  looking at the sky in awe at the beautiful bright bursts of colour and them making the fact that I was cold so worthwhile.  We loved making these zip tie (cable tie) firework sculptures, just look how beautiful they are and they were super fun to make too.
