Paris 2024 Paralympic Colouring Page

Why not print and download this Paris 2024 Paralympic colouring page in celebration of the upcoming Paralympic games which are being held in Paris France this year? I live in a house of sports fans and we are so excited about this year’s summer Olympics and Paralympics in Paris. In fact, my children have been obsessed with them since London 2012 when para sport was really championed in the UK. If you like this then check our our Paris Mascot Colouring and Olympics Colouring Page.

This year’s Paralympic games run from 28 August – 8 September. The competitions will start the day after the Opening Ceremony, on Thursday, 29 August 2024, with spectators able to enjoy wheelchair rugby, Para taekwondo, Para archery, boccia, Para table tennis, goalball, wheelchair basketball, Para badminton, Para swimming, sitting volleyball and Para cycling.

The Paralympic athletes will experience the games with stunning scenery and unforgettable backdrops of Paris for sports.

On 1 and 2 September, Para triathletes will race across the magnificent Pont Alexandre III and under the beautiful glass roof of the Grand Palais, Para taekwondo competitions will begin on 29 August. On the other side of the Seine, just next to the dome of the Invalides, in the heart of Paris, Para equestrian competitions will take place from 3 September together with the blind football tournament in front of the Eiffel Tower.

The Paris 2024 Paralympic Mascot

The mascots (phryges) for the 2024 Paris Olympics and Paralympics have been revealed — a Phrygian cap. The soft red cap, also known as a liberty cap, is an updated version of a conical hat worn which is a symbol of the pursuit of liberty in the French Revolution — and is still worn by the figure of Marianne, the national personification of France since that time. The Olympic cap is triangular in shape and comes complete with a friendly smile, blue eyes, tricolour ribbon and big-coloured sneakers. The Paralympic version features a prosthetic leg that goes to the knee — the first time an Olympic mascot sports a visible disability, organizers said.

Paralympic Pictograms

The 23 Paralympic sports are represented through 8 sports pictograms shared with Olympic sports and 15 unique pictograms used for Paralympic disciplines only. The organisers of the games hope that these pictograms become symbols that sports people will wear with pride and will be turned into pin badges and other merchandise.

They have been designed in a coat of arms style around an axis of symmetry to represent this. They feature a representation of the sport or tools used and also the playing field required.
