Popcorn Snowballs

These popcorn snowballs are a great twist on the classic movie snack of popcorn and we have added a winter twist to them.  They are super fun and really simple to make and we have added a wintery twist to them with our addition of white chocolate snow. Plus they only take four ingredients, so are a real win for us.

Popcorn Snowballs

We love popcorn and have something of a vintage air popper which was a wedding gift from when we got married 23 years ago! But you can always use store bought or just pop your popcorn in a heavy bottomed pan with some butter.  As we are using marshmallows and chocolate I prefer air popped as there is no need to add any sugar as we are already using lots!

One of the things that I love about these popcorn snowballs is that there is less mess than a standard bucket of popcorn.

Plus you can make then different sizes and shapes too.

Ingredients

  • 100 grams Popped Popcorn
  • 250 grams white marshmallows
  • 2 tablespoons Butter
  • 120 grams White chocolate buttons

Instructions

  1. Place the popcorn in a large bowl

  2. In a large pan over medium heat, melt the marshmallows and butter. Stir occasionally until smooth

  3. Pour the melted mixture over the popcorn. Stir with a spatula until the popcorn is coated.

  4. Melt the white chocolate (we popped ours in the microwave for 40 seconds on medium)

  5. Butter your hands to stop the balls sticking

  6. Line a tray with a silicone mat or parchment paper

  7. Begin to form the popcorn into balls.

  8. Dip the tops of the popcorn balls into the melted chocolate and return to the baking sheet.

  9. Allow the chocolate to set before serving.

  10. They will keep for 48 hours in an airtight container.

Sweet, crunchy and gooey these popcorn snowballs are a delicious snack and are perfect for party snacks or holiday treats!
