There are loads of inspirational kids bedrooms on Pinterest, but a big part of me knows that my two boys will never have a bedroom like that. Not down to the fact that I don’t have the imagination, but down to costs, size, time and the fact that they just would not keep it clean (well Mini wouldn’t).
Don’t be disparaged by all the beauty that there is, here are some real kids bedrooms designed by regular mums’ like you and me.
First off this is a room tour of Mini’s room from 2012. I have to say that he still loves the London theme and the only real change for him is that he has moved in to a regular bed (well the top bunk from Maxi’s room as a standard bed).
Maxi who is ten this month has a plain white walled room, but a more colourful bedroom you couldn’t see. All the accessories are rainbow brights and it looks amazing. The next stage for maxi’s bedroom is some new wardrobes. In fact we have been looking at Urban Wardrobes who are suppliers of fitted wardrobes in the UK.
Mamasmiles shows you how it is possible to have four small kids sleeping in one room.
I love Anna from In the playroom’s boys jungle bedroom. It is so cool and shows how one big design can have a huge impact.
Whilst Mama Papa Bubbas closet come reading nook is a fantastic use of space and I adore the use of baby clothes as a decoration in their room tour.
I love this construction site bedroom from Crafsulate and adore the use of kids artwork integrated in to the theme.
Cass from Diary of a Frugal Family shows that you can have both a boys bedroom and girls bedroom updates on a budget.
I adore this fab take on a nightlight for older kids from Karen at The White Approach, although the ticking would drive me round the bend!
How beautiful is this shabby chic nursery from A for Amelia. I live in a house full of men!
What are your kids bedrooms like? Do pop over to Facebook and share an image with me as I would love to see.
I would totally like to live in this woodland themed bedroom by Mummy Daddy and Me makes three or the nursery!
I have fallen in love with this mint and grey nursery from Mothers Always right. It is beautiful and was done on a budget too with lots of family heirlooms.
Thanks for including me Jen! We love baby girl’s nursery – it’s the smallest room in the house but one of my favourites! x
some beautiful ideas here. i am always looking for ideas for my kids room x
Lovely rooms – we are just gearing up for a room makeover for my son.
It is surprising what you can do on little money. We redecorated both of our children’s rooms when we moved without spending too much, just a little hard work and imagination.
I love the last one with the stars on the wall 🙂 xx
Perfect timing – we start moving tomorrow and will need inspiration for the kids new rooms!
I do love Mini’s London bedroom, Roo loves to visit the capital so I can see her opting for something like this if we were to redo her bedroom
Very inspirational. We tend to go with the white walls and accessories. I buy stickers or posters so they are easy to change with fads/tastes/maturity.
We’ve just started to strip the walls and redecorate my teenagers bedroom – he’s got four wallpaper samples up at the moment whilst he decides which is his favourite! Some lovely rooms in this post Jen!
Great links – I love some of the bedrooms on Pinterest by my kids will never stay so tidy!
Wow some amazing pictures of the rooms could do with re-doing my daughter/x
I agree with you, a room in a real house can never look like one in the brochures. We did J’s bedroom last year and it has turned out really good. All budget and DIY, I hasten to add.
I love revamping the kids rooms. Next up is a joint bedroom for mine
Really lovely inspiration here – I am so hoping that this will be the year we will move and I can’t wait to decorate the children’s rooms properly. Bookmarking this for that day!
Love Mini’s London themed room. My children used to have lovely rooms but as we are renting now it’s limited what we can do so no themes going on at the moment, and the children are squashed into tiny rooms you can’t see anything anyway 🙁
My nephew has a London themed bedroom, he loves it x
Decorating the boys room today and cannot wait to start looking at funky accessories
I love the look of London theme bedroom; perfect for an older child.
Now we’ve in our new house a year, I want to make it more of a home. The kid’s rooms are very uninspiring at the moment and Pinterest is definitely my first port of call. Thanks for taking part in the Parenting Pin-It Party.
I am loving all these awesome and wonderful ideas. What lovely rooms and beautifully coordinated.
