We are busy celebrating here and we wanted to make something with the metallic confetti we had leftover from our Balloon Confetti Poppers, so we decided to make some hot glue confetti numbers. We are using our hot glue confetti numbers window clings, but they would also look ace on skewers as a cake topper.
As you may know, I am a big fan of colouring pages for adults and teens and I really love quote coloring pages. I find them really relaxing and they help me switch off from the everyday stresses of the modern world and do something that is screen free and that I enjoy. With the new year almost upon us, I have been looking at inspirational quotes colouring pages for adults and kids. These combine my love for colouring and my passion for a great inspirational positive quote.
Part of the reason I blog is to record the moments, to be able to look back on them and to cherish every single moment. This Christmas has been a quiet one for The Mad House, but wonderful and very family centric. The older I get the more I realise that the joy I experience is really bound to the boys having fun and my family unit and dear friends that I hold dear.
One of our favorite family tradition is all snuggling up together and enjoying a family film and to celebrate this we are working with Sky Movies this Christmas and sharing their personalised Sky Movies #MovieMe Christmas Cards, along with our festive sugar and spice seasoning and free popcorn box printables.
Can you believe that it is only two months to 2014! I know that I can’t. To help ease you into 2014 mode, I have a fab giveaway from PhotoBox to win a personalised calendar ready for the new year. A photo calendar is the ideal way to personalise a calendar and help remember those all-important dates such as birthdays and anniversaries. They are an excellent way of making your memories last all year round and make the perfect present for Grandparents. I used to make one for my Mum every year and she looked forward to it. In time to give the perfect gift or even to make a calendar for more »
Alphabet Index Tabs – Papermash. Oh stationery how much do I love thee! I adore index tabs and these are a little bit quirky with their different fonts.
Shoes – Clement Derby from Hobbs. Not your typical court shoes. I adore these for the understated chic. Perfect for girly dresses or with jeans for the autumn and winter. Grey goes with pretty much everything
Journal – Paperblanks. Nothing screams back to school to me more than a blank journal. The potential of a new book, with words to flow and fill the page. I love the decoration on the outside of this journal which is inspired by Buddhist monks.
Faber-Castell UFO Perfect Pencil – The Pen Company. I love pencils and this is a great way of making a standard HB pencil look that little bit more grown up. I love the fact that it extends the size of pencils and it has a built in sharpener.
Now I just need a fairy godmother to look down on me and fulfil my wish list!
What would be on your back to school wish list?
The school Christmas holidays are generally parents’ favourite school holiday because although they are just over two weeks long, at least one week is taken up with Christmas day, boxing day, New Year’s Eve and visiting family and friends which means that they only have around a week of boredom to fill. At Christmas time most people are generally much happier because they have a lot more free time and there are generally plenty of things to do that can’t be done the rest of the year, for example visiting outdoor ice rinks and Christmas markets. When it comes to occupying the kids this is also much easier as you’re dedicating more »
I know that I am not the healthiest that I could be. This is a mixture of ongoing medical issues, but also down to lack of exercise on my part too. However, I hate being bombarded with new year new you fitness and diet plans, so was really skeptical when introduced to Patient.co.uk. I completed a short questionnaire about my health, including some questions on diet, lifestyle, exercise and so on. It took about 10 minutes and at the end I was given a Q Score of between 1 and 100, which ranked me in an imaginary queue of people where 100 is perfect health and 0 is very poor health. I was placed in a medium risk band more »
I would love to think that my mothers life was so precious that time stood still or even blurred in to the slow motion that you get in films, where every second lasted more than a minute. I would like to say that we are mourning her in the old fashioned way, but with two boys aged four and five and Christmas things have had to carry on with some semblance or normality. Not that I haven’t grieved, I have and still am and will be for a long time yet. I am sad in front of the boys and they both know it is OK to be sad too and more »
I guess people may wonder why I am such a big fan of traditions and why we have so many as a family? This is hard to write, but I think putting in down in writing may lay aside some old worries and ghosts of times past. I worry that this time next year or the year after that I may not be here with my wonderful family. I know that may sound trite, but it isn’t. Yes I don’t have any cancer now, but even after all the precautions I have taken, I am still at more of a risk than most people of dying of a cancer related to more »
What are we celebrating today?, Who was valentine? Well wikipedia says He was arrested and imprisoned upon being caught marrying Christian couples and otherwise aiding Christians who were at the time being persecuted by Claudius in Rome. Helping Christians at this time was considered a crime. Claudius took a liking to this prisoner — until Valentinus tried to convert the Emperor — whereupon this priest was condemned to death. He was beaten with clubs and stoned; when that didn’t finish him, he was beheaded outside the Flaminian Gate. MadDad and I have told the boys it is a day for recognising the people you love and for standing up for the more »
All Change This is a new day One I have never lived before I stay in the now and enjoy each and every moment Sometimes I think that the New Year brings the need for change, for people to embrace the new, the shiny and look to the future. This is not a bad thing, goals, plans and aims are great things to strive towards, as long as we do it whilst living for the day. This is something that I have reminded myself of over the last year and I want to do so again, yes I am busy making plans for the year ahead, but I am also busy more »
Before I start on this I want to say a great big thank you to all the NHS staff out there and all others working this New Year. GrannyMad was admitted with low oxygen levels late last night and is being looked after and hopefully will be home tomorrow. Makes me really thankful for all the wonderful compassionate health care staff that are out there. The lovely Sandy over at BabyBaby Tagged me on the high 5 Meme, so I have to name my top 5 moments of 2009. Baking cakes with MaxiMad on his 4th Birthday on the day I was initially released from hospital. It was bliss my favorite more »

I have been thinking a lot about our holiday traditions lately and I have signed up for Sew Liberated Holiday Traditions Exchange 2009 . Why are traditions important, well for me they cement and make memories. The more frequently we do them the more memories the boys should associate with them. As the boys are getting older it is so much fun to involve them in our traditions and create new family traditions. I find them comforting and great fun too and a way to draw us closer as a family. Christmas is a great time for traditions and it is also a great way to take the focus on the more »
The Party season has well and truly started here in TheMadHouse. Things hot up for us from Halloween. We have parties and birthdays galore into the new year and tonight is no exception. My wonderful neice is getting engaged to her man tonight at “The Club” and we are all off for a little bit of dancing and socialising with our family.
