Why does the sunrise in one place and set in another? Why is it so important to drink water? But there are some problems that we find a little harder to solve, and some situations that require a little more time and patience.

Every parent wants their child to lead a happy and healthy life. In order for this to be the case, it is important that you make their health a priority, which can require conscious thought and effort. Make Sure to Send your Teacher a Thank You Card this Christmas is a paid collaborative post with ThankATeacher.co.uk. Every single day I take my hat off to the teachers out there. I have always said that they have the ability to make or break the school experience and I am so lucky that my boys have, and have had, some amazing teachers in their lives.
Technology giving you Power in Birth, Pregnancy and Beyond is a paid collaberation with Bounty. When I was pregnant 14 years ago smartphones were not really a thing – I had a blackberry for work but hadn’t heard of an app. Now there is no chance of any more babies here, but I wanted to share with you some fabulous details of how the Bounty App can really give you power in birth, pregnancy and beyond. I really wish this had been around when I was expecting.
At the end of 2018, I attended a conference at Instagram about Teenagers and social media, specifically teenagers and Instagram. I am not going to lie, it has taken me all this time to try and process the thoughts that came out of the event and also from my experience of parenting one teen and one soon to be teen boy. Plus add that to the fact that I once was a teen and a pretty tearaway one at that (I hope my boys are better behaved than I was)!
Once a week we sit down as a family and talk about what we loved about that week’s menu and what we want the following week. It has started to become a real family affair as both the boys are now preparing and cooking at least one meal a week. I am a sucker when it comes to stationery, so I have gathered together some fabulous free meal planning printables to share with you.
As all parents know sleep really is the holy grail of parenting, whether it is you not getting enough or encouraging the kids to go to bed and sleep or to stay in bed longer. So I am delighted to be teaming up with Otty for this fabulous giveaway for an Otty mattress and two pillows worth £600. We have an Otty mattress (well Maxi does), so I can testify just how fabulous it is and how amazing this giveaway is.
Mini has always been a challenge when it comes to sleep and now as a nearly 12 year old it isn’t much different, but I thought it would be worthwhile sharing with you our tips for dealing with tween sleep issues. We have tried everything over the years and can firmly say that some things work better for us than others. Mini is a much nicer child when he has had sufficient sleep. We also wanted to share with you how using a Simba Sleep Mattress has made a big impact on Mini’s quality of sleep and why.
Screen time for me is the ultimate parenting conundrum. I am really aware that my boys’ are growing up with amazing access to technology and as a parent, it is my job to manage their access and help provide balance to their life but I have no framework or experience to build this on as it wasn’t around when I was a child. We had one TV with 3 channels and a phone that had a dial and cable! I remember illicitly taping the top 40 on a Sunday hoping the DJ wouldn’t talk over the song and that I could press pause and play fast enough to minimise the gap. My more »
I am in such a reflective mood. Maxi, my precious first born turns 13 in March. How on earth has that happened? I blinked and have a teenager. In all seriousness though it really seems like only yesterday when I was thrown in at the deep end of the parenting pool without a life raft or even armbands. I came to parenting pretty late and really had no idea what to expect and I had absolutely no idea how hard it would be.
Sony Xperia XZ1 A review is a paid collaboration with Sony and Tots100 and a follow up to our Sony Xperia XZ1 First Impressions post three weeks ago. Since getting the Sony Xperia XZ1 in November we have been putting it through its paces as a family. However, it has mainly been split between Maxi and me, so this review is from that perspective. We also tried to make sure that we really put the camera and phone through its paces, so this is our view after a month with the phone.
I LOVE the internet, I love all that it has given me. It has enabled me to carve out a place for myself, a career that fits around my family. However, it really can be a double-edged sword. As much as it is filled with wonderful advice and inspiration, it also makes me regularly question myself and sometimes like today it makes me want to RAGE!
I have been blogging for what seems like an eternity! I started back in 2007 as a record of my family life and my blog has grown organically over the years and developed into my career. Over the years, I have worked with many brands, PR’s and companies and I now receive hundreds of contacts and emails a day. This post is in collaboration with Kit Our my Office who supplied my beautiful office desk. I then bought the filing cabinet to match.
Summer can mean a lot of things. Sun, adventure and above all, fun. However, here is a slight downside to all that enjoyment in that allergies are rampant. Sneezing, sniffling and lack of sleep can lead to increasingly grumpy children! Thankfully, I have some top tips from Joy Richards sleep specialist with online bed retail business Happy Beds to help with sleeping during allergy season that may ease those pollen induced sniffles just enough to squeeze in some much needed shut eye.
