I am going to admit a few home truths here. I have a few weaknesses, nice stationery (I currently have 36 unused notebooks in the office), washi tape, good tea and shoes.
Shoes talk to me. Before I had children and worked full time I often succumbed to their siren song and over the years I amassed a rather large collection of shoes and boots. My passion for shoes has never dimmed, but my income and priorities have, so even though they still talk to me I have learned to walk away and ponder any purchases.
My willpower was put to the test a few weeks ago when I visited Hotter Shoes in York with Cass from The Diary of a Frugal Family.
I am a big fan of Hotter Shoes and Boots and have numerous pairs, including some ace yellow ones (my favorite colour) and their trainers got me through a trip to Florida without any blisters. In fact, I have learned that with Hotter there is no need to sacrifice comfort for style (which is something I often did in my youth). Hell, life is too short for sore feet!
We had a really fun night at the store learning all the technical bits about why they are so comfortable and meeting one of the designers.
Then we tried on loads of pairs of shoes and I had to make the decision as to which pair to choose. I narrowed it down to the three pairs below:
Anyone that knows me will tell you that the yellow pairs above were talking to me, but you will have to watch the video below to see what I chose and why!

Ooh! You went for the tan wedges and I have some like that too! However yours look like they have a cork wedge and the ones I got from last year’s collection didn’t but they are very similar! I love Hotter shoes – they are both stylish and comfortable and I agree with you, life is too short to wear uncomfortable shoes!
As you already know, I love Hotter shoes!
I have my eye on the pink pair I left behind 😉
I like shoes – I am always the same size in shoes for one! Must pop in my local branch and treat myself to something a little more suitable for summer!
Love the shoes you chose Jen, they are really stylish. I love Hotter shoes and own a few pairs of their boots but really must treat myself to some summer shoes :O)
oooh nice shoes! Yellow is my colour this year, I am loving it and these all really appeal…going to check out Hotter shoes now!
I love the latest addition to your shoe collection. I don’t think you can ever have too many pairs!
Ooh I need yellow shoes! I adore a pair of coloured shoes. Will have to take a closer look.
I love Hotter shoes and have a wishlist as long as my arm
I love the ones that you picked in the end, I totally agree that they will be perfect for your holiday and go with any outfit xx
You two ladies look like you had great fun, love the yellow shoes and I am heading off to see if I can use that discount and get myself a lovely spring pair as well! Thank you.xx
Oh those yellow and brown shoes in the first picture are rather scrummy!!!!!
I LOVE Hotter shoes, I have a pair of their boots and they are the comfiest boots i have ever owned!
I don’t think they would suit me! That said, they are quite nice looking shoes….no, I think I’ll pass but think my sisters would be interested in these. Stephen
Oh what fun Jen, looks like you both had such a great time. I love Hotter Shoes, have some boots of their and they’re SO comfortable – so much so I’ve kind of lived in them! Those yellow brogues are just fab and the others too in fact, I must have a nose 😉
