Seven 13

How can my baby be seven? All of a sudden he is starting to look like the man he is going to be. So in honor of my darling Mini, this is for you.

You give the best cuddles in the whole wide world, they are all encompassing and frequent. One of my favorite times of the day is that cuddle in my bed before we get up and face the day ahead. Oftren we each say five more minutes.

You have no pause button. You do everything at full speed.

You are extremely sensitive, although you often hide it under your bravado. You care about what other people think and say.

You have my temper! It is like looking into a mirror. I know this is something you are working hard to control, but baby it is going to be a challenge. I know, I have been there, however, it is part of your personality. We talk about being able to learn to read and write, so learning to control your temper will be something you can do too.

Your family mean everything to you. You love us all with a passion.

You are a reader. You love fact books and sleep with your Guinness Book of Records and 2013 Football fact book. Every morning I remove at least 4 books from your bed.

You put your clothes on back to front. When we tell you, you just shrug and say it is “your thing”!

You are still mad about anything London.

A birthday treasure hunt 2

These are the clues we used, which I took from the Real Treasure Hunt website.

Refrigerator
A clue to find where you keep things cold
Where to go next is what you’ll be told.

Computer
Letters, a screen, and even a mouse,
look around, you’ll find it somewhere in the house.

Bed
When it gets late and you turn out the light
This is the place you’ll be found each night.

Socks
You’ll need to think hard to solve the next clue
Find a covering for your foot, but it’s not a shoe.

Oven
Turn up the heat it will help you bake
Cookies, casseroles, even a cake.

Shower
A place where water falls down like rain
after it falls on you it goes down the drain.

Microwave
A metal box with numbers is usually the norm
For this thing that helps us get our food warm.

Eight 5

Eight things I love about you!

You adore being tickled and trying to pretend that you are not ticklish. You challenge me to make you laugh.
Oh and what a laugh. it is infectious, it fills my heart with such joy.
You are fearless. You are a mini thrill seeker, adrenalin junkie and embrace new things.
You are an early riser, but as soon as your head hits the pillow you are off in the land of nod.
You are a team player. You love football and being part of a team.
You do not mind being different. You embrace your curly hair, wear checked trousers and love being you.
You are kind and considerate. You help other people when you can.
You love with a passion.
How can you be eight already? We never really believed that we would have you. You were a challenge form the moment you came in to being and kept us on our toes. You are a joy, my eldest child, an integral part of our family and I love you more each passing day.

My Midsummer Baby turned six 8

Mini was born six years ago on 24 June. He is and always will be my midsummer baby. This year I have not had the urge to blog about his birthday, for some reason I have wanted to keep it close to me for a little longer. I felt irrationally that by not blogging about it I was keeping him five for a little longer.

We gave him some options of what he wanted to do for his birthday. Did he want a party, a day out or a quiet birthday tea? Not one for a party, he said that we would rather have a family day out and then we were invited down to London by Dairylea and it was just perfect as London is his favorite place in the whole world. He didn’t even have a birthday list, when asked what he wanted for a present, he wasn’t sure!

Seven……. 10

So seven facts about my seven year old………..

You love being different, having slightly longer hair, wearing checked trousers, the need to conform isn’t in your genes!
You are a wiz at maths and ask me to give you sums to do all the time, in fact you idea of “fun” is a list of sums to work on!
You are a very sore looser

Five 16

ow to describe Mini, well he is noise with muck on.
His emotions run close to the surface and some times get the better of him, but this means you always know where you stand.
He is a lover and a fighter.
He shows a talent for music and a passion for reading and literature.
He is my earth, wind, stars and moon.

A Pause in Lent, giving away, not giving up 12

This weekend was Maxi’s birthday party, which was his first proper party, by which I mean not a tea party at home with just a few people. There are three children in his class with birthdays all in the same week, so we decided to have a joint party in the local civic centre, with a disco for all three.

Now we are Six 11

Today you turn six.  It seems like somehow we have blinked and all of a sudden I have a six year old.  We have been blessed to watch you grow and develop.  To get small glimpses to the man you may become. I look at you with wonder at the way you view the world, the ever generous friend, always there to hold someones hand or give them a pat on the back and words of congratulations. Maxi’s last sleep as a five year old You are an amazing big brother, who encourages Mini ever step of the way.  You give him wonderful kisses and cuddles, but boy the two of […]

MadDad’s Birthday 5

My wonderful husband turned another year older on Sunday and I have to say, what a great day it was too.     It started with me and the boys busy with the glue and glitter making some unique cards for him and then cooking his favorite meal and making his favorite carrot cake.   The weather was pants, so we didn’t do very much apart from eat, cuddle, watch movies and play boardgames.  What a perfect way to spend a birthday.
