Over the last six weeks, I listed almost my entire wardrobe on Vinted (thanks to weight loss)—and let me tell you, it was part decluttering mission, part side hustle, and part surprise success! Whether you’re thinking of jumping in or want to improve your listings, here’s everything I learned (some of it the hard way!).

📸 1. Take Loads of Photos (Yes, Even of Your Parcel!)
Photograph your clothes from every angle—front, back, labels, close-ups of any flaws. Also, take a snap of the parcel before you send it. It helps if there are any delivery disputes and shows the buyer you’re careful.
💷 2. Set Realistic Prices
Research what similar items are selling for. Pricing too high means it sits there; too low and it goes in a flash (but you might regret it!). Find that sweet spot for quick, fair sales. Also, things are only worth what someone will pay for them, so forget how much they cost you in the first place. Also people love a bargain and will often want a discount, it isn’t them being cheeky and the Vinted App allows you to decline and offer an alternative price.
✨ 3. List It, Even If You Think It Won’t Sell
I added things I thought no one would buy—like older high street basics, supermarket brands or well-loved pieces—and they sold within minutes. You never know what someone’s looking for!
☀️ 4. Take Photos in Natural Daylight
Avoid artificial light where possible. Bright, natural light instantly makes your items more appealing and professional-looking.
👕 5. Steam or Iron Before You Snap
Presentation matters. Creased clothes just don’t sell as well. A quick iron or steam makes a massive difference to how polished your listings look.
💌 6. Post Promptly – The Sooner, the Better!
Speedy delivery = happy buyers. The best feedback I’ve had always mentions how quickly their parcel arrived. It builds trust and boosts your rating. There are lots of shipping methods and having them all will increase your chances of selling, however, you can turn them off. I live in a village and only one of them (Yodel) isn’t within a mile. Our village Post Office takes Royal Mail, and Evri Plus we have InPost lockers at Aldi. I would suggest you download their app, as you can check if there is room in the lockers before you post and also request a lower locker if you are short like me!
No printer? – No problem. You can select the option not to use a digital shipping label. We have one, thankfully, which means I can use our local lockers as they don’t offer the digital shipping option.

📬 7. Reply to Inquiries Quickly
Whether it’s sizing questions or offers, replying fast shows buyers you’re active—and often leads to quicker sales. Don’t leave messages hanging. You can turn notifications on in the app if you choose.
🪙 8. List Cheaper Items Too – It All Adds Up
If you’re heading to the post office anyway, it’s worth including even your £2-£3 items. Small sales soon build up, and it’s still less clutter in your home.
🗓 9. List Regularly, Not in Bulk
Instead of uploading 30 items in one go, try 5 per day. It keeps your profile active and your items near the top of the feed—great for visibility. It also opens up the options for bundle buying (which you can turn on in settings and offer a discount for more than one item purchased and combined postage). I like how the platform works this out for you.
📝 10. Add as Much Info as Possible
Detailed descriptions such as brand, size, condition, material, fit, and any wear. The more transparent and accurate you are, the fewer messages you’ll get—and the more likely it is to sell quickly. Also if like me you tend to recycle packaging then say that as I had someone complain that the package wasn’t in a new envelope!
🌟 Final Thoughts
Decluttering my wardrobe via Vinted has been unexpectedly fun—and profitable (well, it has allowed me to buy some new smaller clothes). It’s made space in my home, topped up my savings, and helped my clothes find new homes. People had told me that listing on a Sunday. month end meant you would sell more or quicker, but honestly when I listed didn’t make a difference to my sales and I tested that theory out.
I think that Vinted is fast becoming the marketplace for selling second-hand clothes and eBay has already started to duplicate some of its best features. I like not having to work out postage costs (they are fixed by size and the buyer pays). The buyer covers the selling fees, so the price you list or agree on is the money you get into your vinted balance and then wallet when they confirm everything is OK.
If you’ve been on the fence, I’d recommend giving it a go.
