As all parents know sleep really is the holy grail of parenting, whether it is you not getting enough or encouraging the kids to go to bed and sleep or to stay in bed longer. So I am delighted to be teaming up with Otty for this fabulous giveaway for an Otty mattress and two pillows worth £600. We have an Otty mattress (well Maxi does), so I can testify just how fabulous it is and how amazing this giveaway is.

Who Are Otty?
OTTY is an innovative mattress concept which mixes all the key ingredients for the perfect night’s sleep: comfort, support and temperature control. Luxurious memory foam adapts to your ideal sleeping posture, whilst cooling and Airflow technology prevents its high insulation from overheating the bed which has in the past been an issue with memory foam mattresses.
All OTTY mattresses are designed and engineered in the UK, with their head office based out of Leeds. the long lifespan of the mattresses means they can offer an amazing 10-year guarantee and a 100-night trial.

About the Otty Mattress
- The OTTY Cool Blue Gel technology helps to regulate body temperature, resulting in a better nights sleep. Luxurious Reflex Foam relieves pressure and adjusts to your ideal sleeping posture.
2,000 encapsulated Pocket Springs offer optimal support for the joints and back and help eliminate motion transfer, allowing you and your partner to sleep undisturbed. - The high-density foam creates a sturdy base for the mattress, ensuring longevity and preventing dips and sagging.
- OTTY mattresses feature an airflow system that helps to further regulate body temperature by letting air circulate through all areas of the mattress, removing excess heat. The high-strength foam sides offer edge-to-edge support and add up to 25% sleeping area.
- The removable and washable cover is hypo-allergenic, which keeps the mattress feeling fresh and is perfect for anyone with dust or skin allergies.
- Each mattress comes with a 100-night trial and a ten-year guarantee.

Is it as good as the hype?
Well, we Maxi has been using his Otty mattress and pillow since May and he is not the typical teenager when it comes to sleep. He is a lark and a lie in for him used to be 6.30am! The rest of us already have memory foam mattresses and love them, so the time had come to introduce him to one.
One of the great things about a memory foam mattress that its construction can reduce the development of pressure points on growing bodies without letting them overheat. The Otty also comes with a removable and washable cover for any accidental spills from drinks taken to bed (please tell me I am not the only one who finds crockery in their teens room).
This mattresses medium-level firmness is versatile and accommodates most sleepers and positions, which is especially ideal for teens, whose bodies, needs, and preferences change over time.

As for the pillows, as had to buy extra and we all have one now!
But how do you know when you need a new mattress?

I always have a book to read once settled in bed that always helps me drift off to sleep
The circulating of fresh air
nice warm bath and hot cup of coco before bed x
I use a diffuser with lavender oil to help me relax
What is your top tip for dealing with sleeplessness and insomnia?
Don’t lie in bed, get up, have a hot milky drink, bore yourself watching tv and only go back to bed when you are feeling sleepy again
A completely dark room
Lavender pillow spray, 🌸 my mattress is grotty I desperately need a new one! 😬
I find fresh sheets and lavender room spray helps.
I use a himalayan salt lamp for more ambient lighting, write everything that’s on my mind down so I can sleep with a clear mind and listen to relaxation music. No caffeine after 3pm – only decaf x
A hot bath before bed and a few drops of lavender oil on your pillow.
Go to bed earlier!
a good bed ,a dark room
Mattress looks amazing
I’ve suffered from insomnia for years so I like to unwind before bedtime, no tv or screen time 2 hours before bed, no caffeine after 3pm, nice hot bath and I love breathing and counting exercises. I also write down thoughts that pop in to my head and throw them in a bin I keep just for this lol XX
Putting a little bit of lavender essence on the inside of your pillowcase.
To brush your teeth early, so that you can go to sleep when the mood takes you, instead of having to get up and do that, risking waking yourself up too much.
A nice warm shower before bed.
Having a nice, warm bath (with plenty of bubbles) helps with dealing with sleeplessness.
i find it helps to get up if i wake in the night and get a drink or read for 5 minutes rather than just lying in bed willing myself to sleep
A few drops of pure lavender oil on your pillow helps a lot. Also, avoid alcohol before bedtime.
We have been meaning to buy a new mattress so this would be a perfect prize to win! Thank you.
Read a book before bed
Have a shower
I get insomnia quite a bit, but I have no idea how to completely cope aside from imagining my own house room by room lol! Or reading til my eyes can’t focus and i’m tired!!
THanks for the info. We are researching mattresses and specifically need one that’s cooling
Try to relax before going to bed , dont be tempted to pick your phone up if you cannot sleep
My teen would love this – changing her bed to a double soon when we revamp her room. Like a typical teen we cant get her put of her bed!
I find I sleep better when I’ve exercised in the early evening.
love the look of these mattresses, could never afford one so fingers crossed for winning!
I always find a soak in the bath helps me or reading will help me to feel sleepy.
No technology before bed – no browsing on your phone. I find that I can fall asleep easier as my brain is no longer so alert lol
I try to avoid any electronic devices and looking at my phone before bed
ive had sleep issues for years ive found lavender tea really helps me to relax
I need this mattress! (Also – do you know what the bed is in the otty pics. I love it)
Fresh air, the right amount of bedding, winding down before bedtime!
I get up and read for a bit with a hot drink and go back to bed when more sleepy.
Not using any electronic devices that emit blue light at least half an hour before bed really helps me to sleep more easily.
keep the room cool
No phone/laptop/ipad at least an hour before bedtime
Exercise and a hot bath always helps me. I like to have a bit of white noise to distract my overactive mind, so i use a CD with ambient sounds on a very low volume. Works for me anyway.
The main thing for me seems to be temperature – I’m nearly always too hot or too cold, so I’ve developed various methods over the years! A “warm” pillow and a “cool” pillow, both available to rotate through the night, plus a hot water bottle (sometimes two – one to hug and one down by my feet if necessary) that I put in the bed and move around in the 20mins or so before jumping in, so that warmth is evenly distributed, as well as a bottle of cool water by my bed to sip throughout the night because I often get thirsty, then of course the old fashioned just stick your feet outside the duvet if you get too hot! I also have a full bedtime yoga routine that I do in my pyjamas on my mattress last thing before going to sleep, which really stretches out my aches and pains, as well as relaxing me and making me feel quite sleepy (it’s a very gentle routine, all done sitting or lying down). So my general top tip for everyone would be the yoga!
My top tip is a good quality mattress but mine is 15 years old and not comfy so a new one would be fab
Get into a set routine and go to bed at about the same time every night, keep the room cool, I always relax by reading a book for a little while
Best tip would be not to marry an insomniac. My husband is always waking me up!
Definitely reading in bed, always relaxes me.
Create a restful sleeping environment
Your bedroom should be a peaceful place for rest and sleep. Temperature, lighting and noise should be controlled so that your bedroom environment helps you to fall (and stay) asleep.
Go take a hot bath it always relaxes me when I’m having a bad night
Ooh a lovely new mattress for a good nights sleep hopefully- or more comfortable when the youngest comes in !
Don’t use any electronic or mobile devices in bed. Switch them off before you get into bed and if possible, don’t have a television in the room where you are sleeping.
This mattress and pillows look amazing!!
Daily exercise
Make sure your bedroom is quiet, dark, and cool and stick to a regular sleep schedule.
this looks so comfy. the pillows would be great for my neck problems too.
This would be a fantastic upgrade to my student accomodation, can come home after a long day of placement on the wards and feel a little bit more relaxed.
Turn off all mobiles, computers, tv and read in bed for about 30 minutes
Stop using technology at least an hour before bed time!
I use the Avon lavender spray which goes on my pillows, this helps me to feel relaxed and drift off to sleep.
No screens in the bedroom has helped me
Don’t use any screen for 1 hour before bed. If you cannot sleep get up and read a book rather than laying there tossing and turning
If I can’t sleep I read a book until I feel sleepy
Windows open at night in the heat
That mattress looks amazing, im in love
Dark room, window open for fresh air and my hot tip is stay off the internet at least a hour before, i didnt believe this and tried it out and it worked for me
Really make yourself tired – so often we go to bed without having physically exerted ourselves. Do something physical during the day!
Belly breathing. Breathe out for 7 seconds and in for 7 seconds. Keep repeating and it really helps to calm you down and fall asleep
No screens for at least an hour before sleep. I find reading a book immediately before sleep to be the best way to relax and promote restful sleep :o)
A nice hot vimpto does the trick for me .
I’m suffering with pregnancy insomnia and my tip is simply to let go of worries before bedtime as otherwise your mind is wide awake when you should be calming for a good night’s sleep!
No electronics an hour before bed, I have lavender body lotion from lush and a completely dark room
No screens for an hour or so before bed, a nice cool room and good curtains (& a good mattress too obvs😉)
A good routine, no screens before bed and, if you like reading before bed, read in another room rather than in bed.
Making the room so dark you literally see nothing.
A good routine, no screens before bed, and, if you like to read before bed, read in a separate room or an armchair in your bedroom rather than in bed. And if you’re still not asleep 40 minutes after switching the light out, get back up and do something boring in another room in dim light for half an hour and then try again. Oh, and don’t ‘try’ to go to sleep: the more you chase it, the further away it gets!
Ohhhh our bed for our giant evolving child just broke and this Otty bed sounds like the perfect solution! I sympathise as my firstborn wakes early and just is ALERT from 5am onwards and although people advised me that times would change her, nothing has! Up with the birds every day, reading away or being very noisy clattering making breakfast. No sleep for the wicked parents who had too many lie-ins years ago lol x
Sleep with window open, when wake listen to music to fall back to sleep
A nice bath, a cup of cocoa and make sure room isn’t too hot
Keep the room cool. And wax earplugs and white noise (played through speaker or bed headphones) if you live in a noisy location.

Nice hot chocolate and try and relax
i have discovered spacemasks. help me drift off.
Try not to have screens etc for an hour before bed, and if I really can’t sleep I make sure I don’t use my phone or I won’t ever get to sleep. I try to read a little bit more before settling again.
I try to meditate and do a body scan 😪
I usually get up and start doing the laundry…I quickly realise I’m just too tired for ironing 😉
Turn off all electronic devices an hour before bed
Don’t sleep with your phone under your pillow. Move it to the other side of the room because it’ll help stop you checking the time every 5 minutes and worrying about how little sleep you’re going to get!
I haven’t got any tips for a good nights sleep, because I haven’t had one in years , but a new mattress might help
My top tip if you can’t sleep is to get up and make a drink and then try again, I think getting up for a bit helps somehow x
A nice cup of herbal tea before bed usually does the trick for me
Theese look like incredibly comfortable mattresses, we are due a new one so will bare theese in mind!
no caffine after 10pm and soft background music work for me
no caffine or screens before bed and lavender spray on pillow
Good book and beer
I like to have a relaxing bath before bed and if I cannot sleep I try not to worry about it too much, as soon as I forget that I cannot sleep, I often drop off anyway!!!
The perfect for my 16 year old who has the loft bedroom – too hot in summer and too cold in winter, the pressure points which reduce the overheating would be great for him and his ever growing legs. The washable covers will keep it looking and smelling fresh too. Thanks for such a great giveaway.

Using a Quality Mattress
Having them read a book etc always tires them out just right
Switch of phones, laptops & tablets etc at least an hour before bed. I’ve been doing that for more than a year and it’s made a huge difference.
Sleeplessness and insomnia are made worse by worrying about things that you need to do or about things that are happening around you. My top tips are:
1. Do anything that you can do before you go to bed rather than leaving it ’til another day, this way it won’t be on your mind for you to worry about.
2. if you know you need to do something specifically the next day, write yourself a note, either on your phone alarm or on paper stuck under your alarm clock. This way you can stop worrying that you will forget what you need to do.
3. If you’re not tired, don’t try to force it. By all means go to bed and get comfy but use your phone / tablet / kindle to read or play games until you are ready to put it down and drop off.
4. Don’t worry that your sleep pattern isn’t the same as other people’s. If you are a night owl but the other half is a lark, let them go to bed at a time to suit them and you go when you are tired. Lying in bed wide awake because you’re just not ready to drop off only gives you the opportunity to overthink things and worry about why you’re not sleeping.
A good read before bed.
like is beutiful
It means getting the right meds appropriate for yourself.
beutiful!
A hot cup of pepper mint tea has always sorted meout
If i am having a few nights on insomnia, then i spend a full day walking along a beach. The combination of gentle exercise and fresh sea air really works wonders
I read a book and ignore my gadgets completely.
Oooooh cosy !
i think its best to leave phone off avoid laptop etc before going to sleep and maybe a good book can help x
Looks so dreamy!
I suggest having a cool room and relaxing your mind by reading a book or zoneing out with the tv before going back to sleep.
Alcohol!

Bubble bath before bed and a warm drink, turn off all the technology and read a book to relax the mind
I wish I had the answer but certainly being completely comfortable helps. That means comfortable bed, comfortable sleepwear and comfortable environment.
The only thing that works for me is kicking my other half out & making him sleep in the spare room!
Wind down after switching off technology before trying to sleep
Having suffered with insomnia for a few years now i find that turning off all technology, tv’s, phones, laptops etc.. aswell as resting with comfy pillows and matress in a light and airy room does help in the sense that it clears your mind, and helps to relax your body. Also, particularly with the hot weather we’ve been having of late, i’ve found a fan in the room has helped me, it’s a lovely feeling having the cool air blow across my face, as i’ve lay there thinking happy thoughts of being on the deck of a cruise liner with the sea breeze blowing. 🙂

I find a routine really helps. Even at weekends, otherwise it throws the whole thing out the window! I have had short periods of insomnia so I know how awful it is but usually, I’m out like a light within minutes.
Try relaxing rituals before bed and start them at least an hour before you get in to bed.
