When I was young we did not have duvets…We had scratchy pink and brown blankets haha. They were very warm but my over riding memory is they were very itchy on my skin. Thank u

I didn’t have a duvet when I was little, but I did have an old fashioned eiderdown (that must have been generations old) in a shiny blue, floral fabric, and a yellow candlewick bedspread for summer. I think my Mum still has the bedspread, actually!

If I won, I would have ‘Eleanor’ put on it for my little girl, who will be getting her first bedroom to herself soon!

My favourite bedding set when I was young was a fairly simple geometric design with red and black lines and squares. But it was special because my mum bought the fabric and made the bedding set and curtains herself. Mum wasn’t big at making things, so that was very special.

I had fantastic Disney pillowcases. One particular Jungle Book one had “Hold out your trunks for inspection” with the elephants on one side, and “Mowgli and Bagheera curled up in a tree, and soon they were fast asleep” on the other. LOVED that one.

My favourite was a patchwork duvet cover that my gran had made using offcuts from the fabric shop and any old material that came her way so my old clothes, some redundant curtains, even an old dishtowel was in there – I still have it!

I had Snatch the dog in pink, I had the duvet set, the fluffy rug, a big beanbag, curtains, tiebacks, wallpaper and I think I had a lamp – I remember it being a joint Christmas and birthday present because there was so much – I absolutely adored it and can’t wait for my daughter to want something like this.
