How to Make Your DIY Mother’s Day Flower Pots:

1⃣ Paint the Pots: Let the kids choose their favourite colours and paint the terracotta clay pots using a paint brush. Allow them to dry completely. A second coat may be needed for full coverage. You can paint a small way down the inside if you choose.

2⃣ Add Polka Dots: Dip the eraser end of a pencil into white acrylic paint and gently press onto the painted pot to create easy and uniform polka dots. This simple method is great for kids of all ages!

3⃣ Seal with Varnish: Once the paint is dry, apply a thin layer of varnish to protect the design and make it last longer. You can use clay pot sealer if you want a professional finish, we have used a spray varnish and outdoor brush on sealant too.

4⃣ Plant a Flower: Fill each pot with a beautiful primula, or any small plant of your choice. You could even add herbs.

5⃣ Gift with Love: Wrap them with a homemade card or ribbon for a heartfelt Mother’s Day gift!

As a mum to two boys, I would much rather have a homemade card than a shop-bought one any day and I know they would much rather save their pennies! They can buy a bunch of daffodils for a third of what most cards cost, so a free printable mother’s day card is a must for them!

We have chosen to leave the insides blank for you to add your own personalised message. You just need to colour it in and pop it in an envelope.

These cards make the perfect class activity as pretty much every scenario is covered, so great for preschoolers and toddlers as they are not too intricate at all. If you want to make it more of a project just print the rosettes and let the kids use scissors to cut them out before glueing them to colourful cardstock. Let them loose with all the art supplies (crayons, pencils, markers) and let their personalities shine. These bookmarks are perfect for kids of all ages and rather than being scary they are spookily cute and even the spiders! What I love about paper bookmarks is they are inexpensive and that means you can give everyone their own bookmarks.

They are even great for younger children like preschoolers, as it is never too early to start using a bookmark and learning that you do not turn down pages.

Perhaps you are having a Halloween party, then these are a great treat to give out instead of candy. You could give a page, some ribbon, a hole punch and a set of colouring pencils (or crayons). You might even trick a child into reading!

I love making my own bath products and cosmetics, but it can be really confusing and expensive when you have to buy everything you need and that is where Aromantic Natural Skin Care kits come into their own. How to Make DIY Bath Melts

One of the ways I look after myself is to run a hot bath and toss in some of the amazing-smelling foaming DIY bath melts that I make.

Bath melts are made with butters from a vegetable source – cocoa butter, shea butter, and mango butter can all be used. Cocoa butter is the perfect consistency for us in the UK, but if your butter is softer like like shea butter you’ll need to combine it with a harder butter or add a bit of beeswax. To make them even more fun and luxurious, add dried botanicals to your essential oils.

During the winter cold season, my husband loves them with added peppermint, yarrow, fennel, pine or eucalyptus oil, as they moisturise the skin, de-stress the mind, relieve aches and pains and also ease stress headaches and clear the airways.

DIY Bath Melts that Foam

When I talk about ingredients I am going to talk in % that way you can make as many or as few as you want. For ease, I am going to work in g and 1 g = 1%!

Cook Time 10 minutes minutes

Setting time 30 minutes minutes

Total Time 40 minutes minutes

Equipment

• Double Boiler
• Thermometer
• Silicone Ice Cube Mould

Ingredients

• 63 % Cocoa Butter
• 35 % Lumorol K 5229 waterless surfactant. This amazing product is a surfactant, emulsifier and foaming agent in one, and is an ideal primary ingredient for making foaming shower/bath oils.
• 2 % Essential Oil of your choice

Instructions

• Melt the cocoa butter in a double boiler and allow it to cool until it is going opaque at the edges.
• Stir in the Lumorol K 5229 and allow to cool to below 40 degrees c before adding in your essential oil of choice.
• Pour into a silicone ice cube mould and place in the fridge for a couple of hours to set.
• Once set package into a jar with a label and date.

Notes

To Use – Fill the bathtub with water. Toss one of the DIY bath melts into the tub and allow it to melt. Enjoy your soak!

These DIY bath melts can cause surfaces to become slippery, so use caution when getting out of the bathtub.

So with Mothering Sunday this Sunday, I thought I would share with you some quick and easy Mothers Day cards that can be made by children which are perfect for Mum’s, Mom’s, Mam’s or Grandma’s this weekend.

How to make Tissue Confetti DIY Decorated Photo Frames

I love how this DIY Decorated Photo Frame is such a simple inexpensive craft and uses so few materials but can turn out so different depending on who does the making!

Start by removing the glass from your frame, that way you keep it clean no matter how much glue you use.

Start by adding glue to a small area and placing some confetti dots. We found it easier to do a bit at a time, adding more glue and layering where necessary.

You can also cut the confetti dots in half for areas where you don’t want a whole dot.

I love using tissue as you get a fab effect when it creates layers.

Once you have covered your frame then you need to cover it with PVA to prevent the tissue ripping and to give the frame a glossy finish. I would have used a foam applicator at this point if I had one.

Once it is dry then clean the glass and you can start using the frame.

How to make a DIY Terrazzo Polymer Clay Ring Dish

I don’t have special clay tools and actually, repurpose a lot of my baking equipment which is what makes this a really inexpensive craft.

Start by picking out the colours for your terrazzo. I chose a white background with flecks of brown, grey, pink and coral. You can choose whatever colours you like and this is a fabulous way to use up leftover polymer clay from other projects. Do use the same brand clay, so it all cures at the same temperature and time.

Roll out your base clay – I have a roller with little circles you put on the ends to make the clay an even thickness and I really love it. It is perfect for this and for pastry too.

Then cut flakes of small pieces of the coloured clay. If you have older clay it is easier to do this! You can also grate, yes with a cheese grater older polymer clay. Then sprinkle it on to the base clay and roll again.

Now you need to cut out you bowl. I used a 4 inch cookie cutter, but you could use a bowl or cup as a template.

Place the clay into an ovenproof bowl to form a bowl shape and bake according to packet instructions.

Allow to cool before removing from the bowl.

Then sand the edges of your bowl. The first place I saw polymer ring dishes was on A Beautiful Mess and just like theirs you could use gold acrylic paint to paint the edge.

I love how simple and easy these are to make. They would make for a great teen craft or even to make with your girlfriends.
