Playing Family Christmas games for zoom is a great way to keep your family connected this festive season. This Christmas is going to be very different for a lot of people, us included and we are going to have to adapt our Christmas Eve party to a virtual one over zoom. Hosting virtual Christmas parties can still be fun and will get everyone in the holiday spirit. Lots of businesses have used Zoom to keep in touch with remote employees and colleagues over the pandemic and I have had a weekly chat with my sewing buddies using it for over 18 months.
Lots of our standard Kids Christmas Party Games and Family Christmas Party Games can be adapted to be played virtually over zoom. The one thing they have in common is that there needs to be a virtual quiz master or host and some fabulous or funny prizes.
To make it easier for you I have pulled together some free Family Christmas Games Printables perfect for Zoom.
10 Family Christmas Games for Zoom
Christmas Scavenger Hunt
This is always a lot of fun for everyone involved and perfect for a long-distance zoom games night. There are loads of different ways to play you can simply pick a colour that you want people to find something off, set a timer and then everyone goes and brings back something blue for example or you can choose specific Christmas items.
I think it works best when you pick a selection of different things.
Christmas Murder Mystery
Murder mystery games give the best source of fun and engaging ways to spend time with your favourite people this Christmas on Zoom. Everyone can enjoy the thrill of figuring out who the murderer is. You will find various Christmas-themed games from masters of mystery that are easy to set up and play online on Zoom. The game requires solving the mystery while holding some clues in hand. Find the murderer and win the game as fast as you can.
Hum That Christmas Tune
You give one person in each team a list of Christmas songs and Christmas carols and then their team participants have 60 or 90 seconds to guess as many as possible. They can pass and if the person goes through all their songs they can go back to the past ones.
The classic After Eight mint game can still be loved and enjoyed via Zoom. Balance an After Eight mint on the top of your forehead and without using anything but your face, try to manoeuvre the mint into your mouth. The first one to get the mint to their mouth wins. You can also play this as a team game as the first player completes the challenge you move on to the next player and so on.
This is our Christmas version of around the world (where you pick a country from each letter of the alphabet). You start one team with A and then it swaps to the other tea and they have to think of a Christmas item beginning with that letter ie A = Angel Gabriel, B = Bauble……. What to make it even more fun, then the team has to bring and share each item on the screen.
I went to the Christmas Market
This is all about the memories of each of the teams. They have to remember each of the previous items bought and add their own to it! So a take on A-z but with an added element.
Draw a Christmas Movie
Each team nominates a person to draw and then the quiz master gives them a list of movies and then just like pictomary the nominated “artist” has to draw the movie and the team have to guess what it is. They can not speak and they have a pre agreed amount of time to draw it. Just like Pictionary. It is easier using a whiteboard and Zoom’s spotlight feature
If their team doesn’t get it right, then it is passed over to the other team.
Paper plate drawing
Each player holds a paper plate on top of their head, a pen for drawing and listens carefully to the instructions given. The paper plate must not come off their head until the quiz master says they are finished.
You then get each player to draw on the paper plate on their head
- Draw a Christmas tree.
- with a star on the top.
- add lights to the tree.
- Then draw three gifts under the tree.
- Finally, draw some baubles/ornaments on the tree.
Christmas Would you Rather..
We love this and try and make it as random as possible and Christmas related, for example, would you rather have reindeer hooves for feet or elves ears?
Simply download the free-to-use website Bingo Maker and create a virtual game with bingo cards with as many players as you want – it is free to make your first game.
Christmas Movie Trivia Quiz
The Christmas Movie Trivia Quiz See who watches (and pays attention) to the most Christmas movies out of your entire Zoom call — you may be surprised by the results. You can make it simple such as which team can name the most movies with Christmas in the title in 60 seconds or set an actual quiz about movies.
I love the idea of a festive version of this fab gun trivia game. You can download free printable clues here.
Guess the song
This is a fun game and seen as though there are plenty of Christmas songs much harder than you might initially think. You share lyrics from a Christmas song and the team has to sing the following line of the song and guess the song name and artist – king of like christmas karaoke!
