Today is traditionally also know as “Stir it up” Sunday Stir up, we beseech thee, O Lord, the wills of thy faithful people; That they, plenteously bringing forth the fruit of good works, may of thee be plenteously rewarded; Through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. So as you stir three times each (east to west to represent the three wise men) say the prayer and make a wish. My Christmas Pudding recipe can be found here
Practice rather than Preach Now I know that this seems such as easy thing to type, but it is not an easy thing to do. We have decided that we need to be examples for our children, we need to be their mentors and motivator, so in doing this MadDad and I need to be proactive in practicing what we preach, or rather not say and just do! This is an on-going project for MadDad and me and oh so much easier said than it is to do, so I am having to really focus and set the right example for my children.
They went with songs to the battle, they were young. Straight of limb, true of eyes, steady and aglow. They were staunch to the end against odds uncounted, They fell with their faces to the foe. They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old: Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn. At the going down of the sun and in the morning, We will remember them. Lest we forget .
For every dark night, there is a brighter day The clocks “fell” back last night (spring forward, fall back is the only way I remember this) and this means that the evenings will be darker earlier and this has been something I have not been looking forward to in the slightest. One of the times I have most cherished since the mini’s started school and preschool has been our hour at the park after school. This has been an excellent way of them running off all that excess energy. Both boys are well behaved at school and seem to have a sudden burst of energy upon escaping. I took the advice more »
The Past is Over This is a new dayone that I have never lived beforeI stay in the now and enjoy each and every moment Now that Autumn is here it is far too easy to get wrapped up in all the upcoming events, Halloween, Bonfire Night, Christmas and sometimes I am guilty of focusing on them, rather than just enjoying being where I am. I am measuring time by the number of sleeps before I go into hospital, rather than enjoying each day as it come, so this week we I am going to try and forget about hospital and live in the now, rather than worry about the future.
Being broke is different to being poor Yep we have no money, but we are not poor. We have each other, we have our health, we have hearts filled with love. We live in a first world country with free health care and benefits. If everything went belly up, we could survive. We will have food on the table and love in our hearts. we dont need Sky TV, mobile phones (but as I am in contract they wont take it back) and other things. I will not let this beat us.
By perseverance the snail reached the ark. Charles Haddon Spurgeon I thought that this was very apt this week, as we have been soldiering on regardless with MiniMad and his issues with attending Preschool. It has been a hard and heartbreaking week and many afternoons I have come home and had a good sob about leaving him somewhere he clearly doesn’t want to be. The thing is he only cries for about 5 minutes and then gets on with things and tells me he has had a lovely time when I come to collect him, so we decided to keep trying. Well guess what, on Friday we had a breakthrough. I more »
Motherhood There is no one way to be a perfect mother, but a million ways to be a great one. A very powerful statement, that I try to keep in mind on those days that I am feeling less than successful in the mum department.
I Experience Love Wherever I go Love is everywhere and I am loving and lovable. Loving people fill my life, and I find myself easily expressing love to others. I guess that this being only the second week of school for MaxiMad, I was reminiscing about my early days of schooling and it brought to mind Magic Penny, which we used to sing…. Love is something if you give it away Give it away, give it away Love is something if you give it away You end up having more It’s just like a magic penny Hold it tight & you won’t have any Lend it, spend it & you’ll have more »
I am Flexible and Flowing I am open to the new and changing. Every moment presents a wonderful new opportunity to become more of who I am. I flow with life easily and effortlessly. This is true for me and many other mothers of children this week, as it will have been the first week of school for many and the return to school for others. it is also particularly applicable as MiniMad has his home visit from the head of Preschool amd one of the other teachers tomorrow afternoon. I had been looking to keep him with me for as long as I could, what with him being my last baby and more »
I Release all CriticismI only give out that I wish to receive in returnMy love and acceptance of others is mirrored to me in every moment I am a great one for believing in karma, what goes around comes around. I also believe that the old adage of “blame where blame is due” doesn’t always apply. I try and remain positive in my life and encourage the children to do the same and often the blame game doesn’t help anyone. It is hard to change the habit of apportioning blame and it is often the first thing that comes in to my mind, so I am mindfull of changing my thoughts more »
I have been up most of the nights with the MiniMads and MadDad is now not feeling well. I am tired, I didnt want to start the day today. I didnt want it to be Sunday It is only a thought and a thought can be changed I am not limited by any past thinking I choose my thoughts with care I constantly have new thoughts and new ways of looking at my world I am willing to change and grow
I have a couple of thoughts for today. The first one I try and apply in things I do with the MiniMads. Sometimes it is hard to let go and allow them the freedom to try things and for them not to be perfect (take the playhouse). Being Happy doesn’t mean everything is perfect, It means that you have decided to look beyond the imperfections We may not have it all together But together we have it all My Bro and SIL got me these wonderful flowers as a thank you for having my niece over the last few weeks, totally unexpected and unnecessary, but a wonderful and uplifting gesture. The sun is shining again this wonderful Sunday morning and the birds are chirping. It is a glorious morning. I find it much easier to cope with the early wakings that two energetic boys bring, when the morning is a beautiful as it is today. We have already hung the washing on the line, fed the cat, birds and the day is beginning. My Thoughts are Creative I say out to every negative thought that comes to mind. No person or place, or anything has power over me, for I am the only thinker in my mind. I create my own reality and everyone in it. have to admit that positivity more »
It is a beautiful morning here, after what seems like weeks of rain and cloudy skys, the sun is shinning brightly. The MiniMads woke me bright and early this morning and Sundays are MadDads lie in, so I was somewhat grumpy at being woke as early as I was, that is until I came downstairs out of the dark in to the glorious sun. It reminded me of a recent card I had read I let go off all expectations I flow freely and lovingly with life. I love myself. I know that only good awaits me at every turn. Once we learn not to have expectations or in my case more »
My Home is a Peaceful Haven I bless my home with loveI put love in every corner and my home lovingly responds with warmth and comfortI am at peace I was up really early again this morning, a mixture of insomnia and the minimads. MadDad gets a lie in on a Sunday, so I thought I would take one of my power thought cards and think positively about my home and the people in and around it. We do love our home, it is full of memories and also possibilities of thinks to come. Take some time to think of your home this morning and about what feelings you want it more »
