⚠️ Safety First
– Buttons can be a choking hazard for children under 3. Always supervise young children.
– Use low-temperature glue guns only with adult supervision. Keep a bowl of cold water nearby in case of burns.
– Age-appropriate guidance: Preschoolers can sort or thread large buttons; older children can sew or use glue safely.
Why Button Crafts Are Great for Kids
Button crafts aren’t just fun – they help children develop important skills:
– Fine motor skills: Picking up and threading buttons builds finger strength.
– Hand-eye coordination: Aligning and gluing buttons sharpens visual-motor skills.
– Creativity: Kids can experiment with colour, texture, and design.
– Upcycling: Using vintage or recycled buttons encourages sustainability.

Button Crafts
I now have my Mum’s collection of buttons and often add to it. I think that you will always find buttons in any craft room. My boys have spent hours in the past playing with them and we use them regularly for crafting. A glue gun is a great way of fixing buttons, but as always when using hot glue it pays to have a small bowl of ice water on hand. just in case. Kids love to sort buttons into colours and I often just used to give them trays to sort them into and let them just have so much fun just playing with them. Let’s move on to the cute button crats.

One of the favorite things we made was our apple button canvas which made a great teacher’s gift and you could also do it on a card. If you have some precious buttons then why not turn them into a button bracelet or jewellery, in fact, this is a fab way to showcase vintage buttons. Just imagine one on a button ring.
We also find them great for seasonal crafts like our felt mistletoe and clay ornaments. Plus they make great eyes for Glove Monsters! Yes, so much inspiration for DIY button Craft.
