One of my favorite things about Christmas is festive food. It is the perfect time to enjoy food with your family that you do not have for the rest of the year. I love how food cements family traditions and that we all love getting together in the kitchen to enjoy great food at Christmas.
Festive Food for Families
A lot of our family traditions seem to involve food, especially around Christmas! It makes me smile that the boys want to get involved and make our traditional festive food each year. Some of my recipes have been passed down through the generations and others are new to our little family of four.
Christmas Tree Cupcakes – My boys love icing these cupcakes to look like Christmas Trees, especially now they are older and can pipe the icing themselves.
Gingerbread Christmas Tree Cookies – These cookies are super simple to make. No cutters needed and look so effective. perfect for cooking with kids.
Traditional Christmas Pudding Recipe – Passed down from my grandma, this is a traditional Christmas Pudding recipe with a modern twist.
Snowman Soup and Free Printable Labels – A perfect warm treat
Movies, Festive Popcorn and Festive Popcorn boxes – Give movie nights and popcorn a festive twist.
Gingerbread House – This is an annual advent tradition. My boys love making and decorating their Gingerbread houses each year.
This year I want to make this amazing Walnut Whip that looks like a little gnome!
Reindeer Cookies using Gingerbread Men cutters – Turn a standard gingerbread cookie into a reindeer.
Three Layer Peppermint Bark – This is moreish. I warned you. My best friend demands this each year as her Christmas gift from us,
Jelly Baby Jesus Cakes – This no-cook Christmas treat is perfect for making with toddlers and preschoolers.
Not so Gingery Gingerbread – A fantastic child-friendly gingerbread recipe. Our family failsafe.
Dop you have a favorite festive food or family recipe that you always make at Christmas?
I am hoping to make a gingerbread house decorated with sweets this year. Seen so many kits for them.
I love the idea of the gingerbread men as reindeers, very clever. Mich x
Those gingerbread reindeers are ingenious! I will be trying them for sure! I usually make my own Christmas pudding too, but having just popped back to the UK recently, I did sneak one in my suitcase! 😀
Mmmm I love festive food too – especially Christmas pudding! Thanks for these recipe ideas Jen.
Some lovely ideas here: I’m a big believer in festive food being a lot of fun.
I am loving the snowman soup idea!
We normally do gingerbread decorations but I’m not sure if I’m brave enough for a gingerbread house yet!!
I love these Jen! Yum, yum, yum!!
